I saw in the paper today that someone (a researcher) determined that coffee
prevents liver cancer. It seems that almost every week there is a headline of a particular food which either prevents something or causes something. I wonder if anyone has kept track of all these "wonder" foods or "deadly" foods, and have developed a cookbook or at least a list. When you read between the lines, it seems as if you have to drink a "thousand" cups per day before either something "good or bad" will happen. Tom |

CNN has the article on their website at
http://www.cnn.com/2005/HEALTH/condi....ap/index.html What is indicates is that the protective effect occurs at 1-2 cups a day and increases at 3-4. The study was done in Japan where decaf isn't used. It goes on to talk about the effect of coffee on colon/rectal cancer where decaf seems to be the beverage of choice. The study has not been duplicated and has not ruled out other factors. This is an initial study at best but one that will stimulate other research.
