Default tomato sauce

I would like a recipe for homemade tomato sauce (without meat)
for spaghetti.

Thanks!

Here is one to try with wine...

Also, try using a smoked chicken apple sausage along with another meat
in your recipe. It adds a great unique flavor...

DINO'S MARINARA SAUCE

3 tablespoons olive oil
1 large onion, chopped
6 garlic cloves, sliced
1 pound fresh mushrooms, sliced

1/2 teaspoon dried crushed red pepper
1 28-ounce can Italian plum tomatoes, chopped, juices reserved
1 15-ounce can tomato sauce
1 teaspoon sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons dried basil, crumbled
3/4 teaspoon dried oregano, crumbled

Heat oil in heavy large skillet over medium heat. Add onion; saut=E9
until tender, about 10 minutes. Add garlic; saut=E9 1 minute. Add
mushrooms and crushed red pepper; saut=E9 until mushrooms just begins to
soften, about 5 minutes. Add tomatoes and reserved juices. Cover and
simmer 15 minutes. Add tomato sauce, sugar, basil and oregano. Cover
and cook 15 minutes. Uncover and simmer until slightly thickened, about
5 minutes. Season with salt and pepper.

Which of the two following words do you not comprehend: "without
meat"... you functionally illiterate douche bag.

Thought that other people might be interested... If you want to try it
with meat, I was making a recommendation of something that tastes
really good. As originally requested, the recipe has no meat. Did not
intend to offend anyone.

The best one I've had by far is Alton Brown's, & its very versatile, &
quick to make. He starts out with a mirepoix (carrots, celery, &
onion) and winds up broiling it with the tomatoes. Also, it had wine
and wine vinegar reduced in a separate pan along with the juice from
the tomatoes. You can find it at www.foodnetwork.com

You know, I like Alton Brown, but if there is a way to make something
complex he will be the first to find it. Next in line are the folks from
America's Test Kitchen (AKA, Cook's Illustrated.) It would be refreshing if
AB could, just once, make something that didn't require a trip to the
hardware store for some ViceGrips, an insulated picnic cooler, and a
BernzOmatic torch.
