This is because the x/y/z/whatever generation is too wimpy to drink
gin and too lazy too create new names for gin origin/vodka clone
drinks.

I think I use about 2 shots of gin to an entire glass of ruby red -

I drank vodka once - when I was 14. Never liked the stuff since. Just
tastes like terpentine to me. So many people rant and rave about vodka
- to me it just smells like old drunk Uncle Whomever. Ick! Same with
Whiskey.

Hehe - I suspected something of the sort And I'm perplexed by this new
fad of calling all mixed drinks "martinis". I was on a web board
somewhere, and everyone was saying stuff like, "i had this great martini it
was southern and apple and cinnamon wot's ur fave martini"? I don't get
what's so uncool all of a sudden about the word "cocktail".

Three ounces of gin in a tall glass; add grapefruit juice until it
tastes good (about 6 to 10 ounces.) Add a couple of ice cubes. Don't
put the ice in first or the gin will melt it and dilute the drink.

It was probably cheap vodka. Good stuff has no taste to speak of. I wonder
why people drink it, except for the buzz.

Whiskey, OTOH, has a definite odor so I can understand you may not like it.
Cheap Scotch smells and tastes like iodine, but a good single malt can be
enjoyed by sipping.
