Janet Bostwick used a steamer insert and a pot of water and a lid.
Steamer inserts are fairly cheap running from around 2 bucks and up.

You could use a cullander/strainer <sp??> a pot and a lid...if they
fitted together well enough. Anything that would allow you to steam food
should work. Even a pasta pot with insert, would work if you were careful
about the water.
