Default how to recreate Dots candy?

Hi all,

I like a little candy from time to time, but after
learning how the dyes and flavorings that are in the
Dots candy, which are my favorite candy, are derived from
petrochemicals, I think I would prefer to make my
own at home if possible, avoiding unnatural chemicals.
Especially after viewing the excellent documentary
Supersize Me, and the interview at the end of the DVD
with the author of Fast Food Nation, I just want to steer clear
of any product where some company has decided they don't care
if they poison me if it improves their profit margin.
Especially since a lot of these petrochemicals can have
contaminants due to shoddy manufacturing processes and those
contaminants can be carinogenic. Eat today, get cancer
tomorrow kind of thing.

But can anyone point me to a recipe for making Dots
or something like them? I plan to use truly natural
flavorings and I hope I can use maple syrup or some such
thing.

Thanks
MH

A guy decides to eat huge quantities of only the highest calorie items
from a fast food restaurant and only those items every day and film
himself is neither a documentary or excellent.

You shouldn't criticize a film you've never seen; that's just
ignorant and close-minded.

Key benefits of the film (just a few of many):

* McDonalds says their food is healthy when the movie proves it isn't.

* None of the doctors in the film expected that continued consumption
of McD food would lead to liver damage equal in extent to that of
being an alcoholic.

* The rate of fat gain was proven to be much faster than
expected.

* It provides great insight into the fast food industry and how
it manipulates people.

So did you come here for advice on candy-making, or did you just want to
stir up a bunch of shit?

It's great food. just like chocolate. very nutritious, pound for pound,
based on caloric intake.

now, if _I_ was told that I had to live on McD's for a month... and would
get paid for the priveledge... I'd probably eat there twice a day (I'd
at least have a budget for caloric intake), and
hike the rest of the time. If I could, I'd get someone to "airdrop" the
food, so that I wouldn't have to stop hiking. I figure, in a month, I
could
at least get to Canada...

This bears investigation... specifically crosschecking against other
cultures with similar diets (think Inuit). could just be a weird genetic
predisposition (doubtful, tho).

did mr. idiot try to burn off any cals? guess not. doubt he had
calculated how many kaycees he had before the "diet".

awww... you sweet thing, you managed to miss him manipulating _you_
against the fast food people!

Lena

I know people who lost weight on an "O" Diet. That's an order of The
Original Hot Dog Shop's fries (and maybe a burger), once a day. that's
all you'll need.

Candymaking of course.

But if bringing up industry's misdeeds and malfeasance
makes you nervous, maybe you should cover your ears.

Because that is certainly a topic that people need to
know about and I'm not going to just shut up about it.

There is no reason to keep quiet about food companies
whose business mentality mirrors that of ENRON.

Although those food companies would certain LIKE people
to shut up.

Really? Have you seen the movie in order to be able to say
whether he's manipulating? No, of course not. You're just imposing
your stupid, inveterate conservatism wherein anything that
management does is always right, no matter how unethical.

heya, newbie. doncha call me conservative... if i'm not the most radical
gal here, it's not for trying.

and thanks for not answering anything else in my post.

a whole ****ing lot of what "management" does is wrong. Selling kids into
white slavery, for one. Blowing up children, for another. Yes, we agree
on something. now, stop throwing insults and get back to the argument.
