Default Pix of Recipes Idea

I have an idea you might like to comment on to make this newsgroup even
more fun.
Digital cameras make instant pix so easy these days. My sister and I
live in different states and both love cooking. We are always asking
each other on the phone what is on the table for dinner etc. and dinner
plans for having company (just like this newsgroup <g>). So sometimes I
take a quick pix of what I have prepared and email it to her and vice
versa.
In my other newsgroup hobby (quilting/patchwork) we use Webshot or
Yahoo Pix Albums where a post on a particular subject will include the
web link. Interested parties to the post can then go and view the pix
at their leisure. Recipes could be asked for etc.
So, gang, is this a good idea or am I off the mark?
To start off and show you a link to my Album, I uploaded a few pix of
some of my recent dishes (well, over the last year).

Maybe some one has thought of this before.

You're quite a talent.

Great idea Bronwyn!

Nice photos.

Just a note -- BigOven.com and Allrecipes.com are just two of several
recipe sharing sites that let users post a photo of recipes they make
to a shared archive, where they can be searched, rated, emailed, etc.

Blogs are also great ways to share recipes and dishes with others.

There's also alt.binaries.food for posting and viewing photos of food if you
can get binary groups on your server.

Thanks Wayne - cooking and quilting, two passions of mine! Heaven
would be hell if there were no knives or scissors.

I recalled after I posted the original text that around Xmas. you guys
post some festive successes. I'll check alt. binaries.food too. I
wonder why it is called binary.

In case you are being serious, they are called binary because people post
their pictures of their dishes (well, in ABF, anyways) and pictures are in
binary form as opposed to text form.

Example:
Text: "MARY HAD A LITTLE LAMB"
Binary: "01011011110110101101011011111011100001101"

Binary files are also a heck of lot bigger since the file is creating a
picture so uses up a lot more space and bandwidth.

Hope this helps.

Bret

I've been posting pictures of my foodventures for a couple years on my
website. <www.jamlady.eboard.com> Good idea? Beats me.
