My DH and I will be going to Vegas soon. I've heard that a number of good
restaurants have opened there in the last few years, "Paris" among them. Anyone have any recommendations for "must try"? Sheila |

Paris' buffet is good, but somewhat expensive, IMHO. Another good buffet is
at Rio. Huge number of items, and the price is better. If brunch is more your thing, go to Bellagio. It's not cheap either, but it is great. Otherwise, a buffet is a buffet is a buffet. Mark Miller has a couple of restaurants inside MGM Grand (Coyote Cafe), which are really good. I liked the Pink Taco at Hard Rock - chips and salsa were good, and the staff are friendly. For a local place not in a casino hotel, try Tinoco's Bistro on East Charleston. Kind of hard to find, but call ahead for reservations and ask for directions. French/Italian cooking and quite reasonable. The place looks like a hole in a wall, but the food is great. El Sombrero on Main Street is good if you like plenty of Mexican food, cheap. And one place I like to go when I'm just driving around town: In-N-Out Burger on Industrial Road. One of the best chain burgers I ever had. The big name people have big name restaurants in the big casino hotels, especially MGM Grand (Mark Miller, Emeril Lagasse), Mandalay Bay (Charlie Parker's Aureole), Bellagio (Picasso, Aqua), and The Venetian (Lutece, Delmonico's). For example, Wolfgang Puck has a bistro-like place at Mandalay Bay, and I also like Border Grill there and Red Square for what has to be the world's most diverse collection of vodkas. The wine "tower" at Aureole has to be seen to believe. If you're at Paris, Eiffel Tower is good, although sitting outside at Mon Ami Gabi and overlooking the fountains at Bellagio is a good way to spend some time. You can't go too wrong eating in Las Vegas because of the variety, although it's not as cheap as it used to be. Some of the off-strip hotels have decent restaurants as well, especially places like Sam's Town and Orleans. As you can tell, I like to go to Vegas. Tour the Ethel M chocolate plant and cactus garden. Have fun! "WhansaMi" > wrote in message ... > My DH and I will be going to Vegas soon. Thanks for the feedback. I'm printing them off.
Anyone know if the seafood buffet at Ceasars is good? We are staying there, and DH says he's heard good things, but what does he know?? ;-) He also is talking about Aladin's? We've only been to Vegas once before, and we didn't get to spend much time. We are going to see the Blue Man Group one night, and Gladys Knight the next. I think I'd like to do something a bit more "upscale" on the Gladys Knight evening. Suggestions for a nice sit-down meal? We like... well, gosh, we like good food, of all kinds! Sheila |

Its a little over a mile up Flamingo road from Ceasers (in other words, the Rio is off the strip itself.) > He also is talking about Aladin's? > > We've only been to Vegas once before, and we didn't get to spend much time. I have been to Las Vegas many times, and I will be there again on vacation in about a month (just got airline tickets a couple of days ago)! What kind of food do you prefer, and what price range? For top tier restaurants, you have several choices such as Delmonico's in the Aladan casino, Emeril's Fish House, in the MGM Grand casino, Olive's in the Balagio. Almost all the major Strip casinos have a range of restaurants in them from very casual to gourmet dining. If you want a very good Sunday brunch, you can't go wrong with the buffet in the Paris casino. I also suggest you check out http://www.cheapovegas.com which is a wonderful resource for first time visitors to Las Vegas. The newsgroup alt.vacation.las-vegas is also a good resource for information about Las Vegas. |
