Fridge-life of chicken meat in vinegar
I posted before about immersing bite-sized chicken
meat in vinegar from a pickle jar. Someone suggested that this can last several days in the fridge. Unfortunately, I may intend to cook it in the next few days, but may be delayed by upto 10 days or more. So the meat sits in vinegar for a long time. I threw a batch out today. What a waste. I wonder if the salty vinegar might not make the chicken last much longer than several days. Any knowledge about this out there in web-land? Cooking Ignoramus |
Chicken soaked in vinegar doesn't sound good at all. Why would you do
that? It doesn't sount too safe, either. If you want to save cooked chicken, wrap it up well and freeze it. Nancree |

The thing about cooking and freezing it is that I don't anticipate having evenings tied up for days on end, which is why it goes uncooked for days on end. And the freezing, well I defrost it with the mistaken anticipation that I will cook in in the next few days. Kind of curious why immersing the chicken bits in vinegar sounds unsafe?
