I'm taking two separate trips to NY in the next two weeks, one to Brooklyn,
the other to the Bronx. I'd love to find some great NY goodies to take back home to Boston. The trip to the Bronx will be focused on Arthur Avenue, the Brooklyn trip is mostly to the Botanical Gardens. What can you suggest to fill up my shopping bags? I will stop at Penzeys enroute one of the times, and at Balduccis in Westport also, unless you have better suggestions. Fortunately my companions are all interested in cooking, so they won't mind. Any other kinds of "must-do" shopping will be greatly appreciated. I'm free. I'm free! (Sheldon, don't take that too literally. I may be a newbie to you but I've lurked for a long time!!) L |

Especially their cheesecake. And Coney Island! Danza did show the Botanical Gardens and it looked great! Have fun! Andy |

Ted shuffled out of his cave and grunted these great (and sometimes not
so great) words of knowledge: > I'm taking two separate trips to NY in the next two weeks, one to Brooklyn, > the other to the Bronx. If you get there early enough, be sure to try the Pithiviers cake or a chocolate pastry. Then, fill up your bag with chocolates! It is a tiny, tiny shop but it's worth the trek if you love chocolate. Also, Park Slope, Fifth Ave has a lot of restaurants. Sue(tm) Lead me not into temptation... I can find it myself! |

I wasn't impressed with the prices, but they do have variety and some interesting scenery. Up Prospect to Grand Something Plaza is often a Farmer's market. Go aorund the plaza and head down Flatbush towards Manhattan, and you will find Juniors. Wander through Prospect Park as well--it's pretty this time of year. Say Hi to the Bonsai room at the Botanical Gardens. That and the Tropical room downstairs are my favorites. maxine in ri |

Atlantic Avenue, just a few blocks before getting to the Brooklyn Bridge (on the Brooklyn side) was a favourite place of mine oh these many years ago: A row of Middle Eastern restaurants and groceries. blacksalt |
