Salty food a taste to shake
The National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute wants the American public
to forgo that extra dash of salt intended to add flavor to a meal and
instead try DASH, an eating plan designed to cut down on sodium in a
daily diet.

Not salt, excessive salt... excessive salt is as deadly as no salt.
Everyone needs salt to survive but each person, especially due to
inherent medical conditions, has a unique threshold to what constitutes
a healthful salt level. A person can commit suicide by ingesting too
much salt.. for rednecked Bubbas just pour it on their heads the same
as you'd get rid of slimey slugs.

Exactly. Google "intersalt" and see what real research on the subject says.

That's untrue. In order to survive we only have to live to the age
where offspring can take care of themselves.

Last time I was reading up on it, I think it was the case that only
about 10% of hypertensives were sensitive to salt.

Only got to live to be about 40 to have kids and raise them.
I heard it was about a third, but there is also some data that says it gets
to you eventually.

You can have pretty high blood pressure and last a long time before your
heart goes, your kidneys go, or you have a stroke.

Up to you. best to reduce your salt consumption to a reasonable level

Also in the past salt was extremely valuable, indicating that most
people didn't get very much of it anyway.
