D's birthday

We're celebrating tomorrow and I'm all a-twitter.

I'm about to head for the Mexican friut market for a good pineapple
which I'll grill (apropriate chopping first, of course) I plan to
serve a grilled fruit salad along with a few sides of ribs to the
throng due here tomorrow night.

D's back from a Dallas excursion with tamales from la Popular, cheese
and olives from Central Market, and half a case of champagne.

Food fun.

La! Michael! I love grilled pineapple! It do sound as if you have all the
fixins! Best wishes to D. on her birthday!

Thanks, Charlie. I've already made a dressing for the grilled fruit
salad. I reduced half a bottle of prosecco (it was flat, dammit) with
some honey, black pepper, and a little fig puree I've had frozen since
last summer's fig flood. (What a sight that was!) Tomorrow, I'll do
the pineapple along with some pears on the grill. I'm still
cogitating about doing mangos, too.

Anyhow, once the fruit is nicely caramelized, I'll chop it to
bite-size chunks, dress it with the reduction and perhaps add a little
lime juice, depending on how sweet or tart the fruit turns out.
Shredded fresh mint, too.

All this comes about after the ribs are rubbed and in the pit.

Hey, Sonny. My birthday's only about 5-6 weeks away. Maybe you need to
haul your catering wagon northward.
