That is akin to the problems with American Idol voting, in that the
closed-captioning last week listed Carrie Underwood's number for ALL
the contestants.

I thought that the customer was posing the question, obviously wanting
to learn to read in seven days. I thought it was funny, unless I
completely missed the point, which would not be so far-fetched. (

He luckily picked a book, that he couldn't read the title of, hoping it
could teach him to read, not knowing you can't learn to read from a book!

Several levels.

Oh, Pooh!

sf, you're hereby nominated for tomorrow's Chuckle of the Day url.

Then nominate somebody else for the following day.

Okey doke, nominate me, too. I'm fairly bright and have a good sense of
humor, and didn't see anything funny in this at all. Pathetic, yes, but
ha-ha funny? Nope.

pennyaline,

I'm sorry, but it's in sf's hands who HE nominates, if he rises to the
task.

Of course, anarchy being what it is, go for it.

I found it kind of sad too, sf. Illiteracy is a tragedy.

Grand! I can get paid more, wear what I want (generally) to work, and
will never have to worry about any of the physiological moments that
SWMBO has been/will be experiencing. <G>

I found it funny in a Catch-22 way: The book is intended to teach you how
to read, but you already have to know how to read in order to use the book.

(Of course, maybe you didn't get the humor in Catch-22 either.)

Or of course it may all be only another manifestation of the pervasive
self-help mindset, in which no help is really needed but the individual
believes that it is despite all evidence.

As I said, I am fairly bright. I got Catch-22. I got the cartoon, as well.
It wasn't even wry, just pathetic.

FYI: A Catch 22 situation is NOT a humorous, expecially for those
caught in one.

So, you're telling us that your sense of humor is different and that it
didn't strike your funny bone.

Okay.

Time to move on or is there anything else you need to say about this? Or
anyone else for that matter?

As a follow-up, I didn't enjoy it either. I saw the humor, but it is not
funny.
