Oh no....the group home has a computer now. Go to the store and pick up a
box of lasagna noodles. Read the recipe on the back of the box. Now, go back
to the store and buy the other ingredients you see listed on the box. Follow
the instructions.

You can't. You can make sores, and welts, and similar things from scratch
though.

Shaun aRe - Durum wheat semolina, water and/or egg, rolling pin or pasta
rolling machine, then look up a lasagne recipe or some shiznit - I don't
have recipes.

Lea,
Do you mean how do you make the lasagna noodles from scratch or how do
you make the whole dish from scratch? I have a good recipe for the
whole dish if you're interested.

What kind of lasagne? Meat or vegetarian? do you want to make your own
noodles? I have a spinach lasagne recipe that is very good, as well as
an ordinary plain, tomato sauce lasagne. Both can be made with or
without meat.

One time i grabbed a jar of home made barbecue sauce from the fridge,
mistaking it for tomato sauce, and had poured out the first layer before
i realized the mistake and decided to continue with the bbq sauce, it
was very good.

While a tomato sauce is very common, one can use almost any sauce, blue
cheese and almond, chicken liver and tomato, cream sauce, fennel sauce
with a beef lasagne is very good, olio e aglio (garlic sauce), pesto
etc. etc. recipe on request.

Here's a cheese filling to be added as one layer of the lasagne

Cheese filling for pasta
----------------------------

1 pound ricotta cheese

2 large eggs

1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley or basil

1/3 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1 tbs. chopped fresh thyme, basil, oregano, or a combination of these.

1/2 tsp. black pepper

In a large bowl mix all ingredients together with a spoon until well
blended.

-----------------------------

Usually lasagne is constructed with a layer of tomato sauce on the
bottom of the baking pan, covered by a layer of noodles, then a layer of
meat and/or veggies, a layer of the cheese filling then repeat starting
with the noodles and ending with a layer of noodles covered with a thin
layer of tomato sauce and a sprinkling of cheese..

From scratch? .... as in making your own pasta, your own
tomato sauce etc?

Lasagne is pretty easy to make, and there is no single way
to make it. Most lasagnes are just layers of tomato sauce
or a tomato and met sauce, cheese (ricotta and Mozzarella)
and pasta. You cook the pasta, lay the layers in a baking
pan and shove it in the oven.

1 can tomatoes
1 small can tomato sauce
1 small can tomato paste
2 cups water
2 t garlic powder
1 T parsley
2 t salt
1/2 t pepper
1/2 t oregano
2 t sweet basil
Onion powder
2 T olive oil
1/2 t Worcestershire sauce
8 oz pkg lasagna noodles
1 lb mozzarella cheese
Large container cottage cheese
Small container Parmesan cheese

Mix all ingredients except cheeses and cook slowly with lid on for
several hours. Layer sauce, cooked lasagna noodles, cheeses, sauce,
lasagna, and cheeses. Cover and bake 350=B0 for 45 minutes.

QUICK LASAGNA FROM "SCRATCH"

1 jar (28 oz) pasta sauce
6 uncooked lasagna noodles
1 lb ground beef, cooked
1 container cottage cheese
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
=BC cup Parmesan cheese

Mix 1 cup mozzarella cheese with the other cheeses, set aside. Spread
1 cup pasta sauce in 2 quart baking dish. Top with 3 uncooked noodles.
Put ground beef on top of noodles, then cheese mixture. Top with 3
more uncooked noodles and the rest of sauce. Can add a bit of water if
necessary. Cover & bake 375=B0 for 1 hour. Uncover and top with
remaining mozzarella cheese. Let stand 5 minutes and serve.

I've tried both of these recipes and they're good.

I've taken to adding a thin layer of spinach just after the noodles on
the bottom layer of lasagne. I also use homemade sauce and 5-6 cheeses
including cottage cheese. When I'm in the mood I will make up several
trays and freeze them.

Hmmm, I think I might try this idea!

Easy! You just need a box of lasagne noodles, a lasagne pan, cheese of
your choice (parmasen plus mozzarella plus ricotta if you like such
things), and a rich tomatoey meat sauce. Homemade bolagnaise sauce
works well but you have to make it THICK. Too much water makes the
lasagne runny...

Cook the sauce and layer it in the dish with the cheese and pasta, top
with a generous layer of cheese, and bake. That's all their is to is.

I love spinach in my lasagne and use it in every layer.

I should mention that i use a good balsamic vinegar or unpasturized,
unfiltered apple cider vinegar with molasses and all the other spices &
seasonings and a bit of highly reduced beef stock. Because of my love
of black eyed peas, and the dish "hopping john" i not uncommonly will
save some broth from a pot of black eyed peas and add a bit of it to my
B-B-Q sauce.
