Default Need instructions for how to 'kill-file'

Can someone give me 1-2-3 simple instructions to kill-file (plonk) a person?
I use Outlook Express.
Please.
Thanks.

You bet - I have done this few times myself. Highlight the message then
select Block Sender from the Message menu. If you later want to "unblock"
someone, select Message Rules from the Tools menu then select Blocked
Senders List. Click the entry you want to unblock and then click the Remove
button. Finally, click OK.

Thanks, Peter. I'll file this.
Enjoy your site -- used it the other day in conjunction with my
ciabatta/french bread recipe.

It is easy and it is something do when they refuse to see other sides

That was an extremely helpful and informative reply. Oh wait, I didn't see
the "other side" of a non-response. Sorry! <G>

Click Message, then click Block Sender. 1, 2. No need for 3

I don't use Outlook Express, so I still wanna know too. So if there is
anyone out there who uses Thunderbird, and has not kill-filed *me* yet
LOL, I would like to know how to get it to work as well!! I sorta got
it working, but some people post from more than one "email" address, but
under the same name... And this is where the problem comes in, it only
gives me an option to "mark the message as read" or "mark the thread as
read". As I want to just make *certain* people "go away* this doesn't
help me. Any clue? (other than change my news reader?) I have checked
their so-called help file, but the word *help* in this instance is used
very loosely...
Thanks

Just ignore GQ, Jill. I am trying to "make her go away" too.

#3 is "sit back with a satisfied look on your face as the signal-to-noise
ratio in the group improves dramatically."

(Actually, I guess there IS a "3" with Lookout Express - after you block
the sender, it will ask if you want their messages removed from the
current view. DUH...if I wanted to see the durned things, I wouldn't
be blocking them!)

At the top, click on "Tools". Then click on "Message Filters."

You probably want to set it to Sender Includes ___ and put the part of the
sender's name which stays the same. And then mark "delete".

You can also do Subject Includes.

Unfortunately, there's no "Nuke everything crossposted to alt.christianity
and alt.atheism, and make the sender suffer for nine years" option.

Good point.

And why not? I think I will have to either: a) bother to fill in one of
those "Enhancement Request" thing-a-ma-bobs or b) wait for the DH to
hack the darn thing and fix it for me.....

I use Mozilla which is the browser and Thunderbird. Highlight the
message, then go to Message, create a filter. It will do everything for
you from there. Just follow the instructions. HTH

Message -> Create_Filter_From_This_Message

sure) HTH :-)
