I'd like to hear a report on this too. I tried a low carb pasta once and it was so bad I had to spit it out. I'd love it if someone could make a good one. -- Peter Aitken Visit my recipe and kitchen myths page at www.pgacon.com/cooking.htm |

Needs to be cooked a little bit longer than regular pasta. I tried it out on my kids...the one who insists on eating her pasta with just a little butter didn't eat as much as she normally does and said she didn't like it...the one who ate it with pesto didn't seem to notice a difference, and ate two helpings. I thought it was ok, but not as good as regular pasta. We tried the thin spaghetti. The marketing is interesting -- it's not marketed as low carb pasta. Rather, it's billed as being more nutritious...additional protein, fiber and omega-3 fatty acids...I think they add some whole grains and legumes...flaxseed for the Omega-3? I don't have the nutritional info in front of me, so I don't know how it stacks up to "low carb" pasta. |

But I still haven't tried it. -aem |

Dreamfields pastas (in the black boxes) are excellent. They absolutely don't cause a spike in my blood sugar. WalMart no longer carries them, but other stores do. http://www.dreamfieldsfoods.com/stores.html Carol -- CLICK DAILY TO FEED THE HUNGRY United States: http://www.stopthehunger.com/ International: http://www.thehungersite.com/ |
I buy the Angel Hair style and I really like it. I cook it until it's
soft, though. If you cook it al dente, it's a weird texture. I do not like any of the other shapes. I do not think this is a "low carb" pasta as much as it is a "higher protein" pasta. Dreamfeilds isn't bad either but that's a different thing. |
barilla plus is not low carb, but I did buy it because of the flax seed to
start serving my family. for myself- the dreamfields is good, and I'm weighing it carefully to not overeat. It stretches out a nice seafood stir-fry, yum! I thought it was more chewy than regular pasta and with less flavor. But the differnce in flavor could have been something I was looking for, not something anyone else would notice. We've had two boxes of the Pente. Once we cooked it and added fresh parmesan and olive oil, the other time we had it mixed it in a bean salad. It's something we'll buy again. |
Tried it (had good coupons). It was fine.

My kids ate it! They won't eat whole wheat pastas, so I consider this a
major victory. -- Wendy http://griffinsflight.com/Quilting/quilt1.htm De-Fang email address to reply Put on your Big Girl panties and just deal with it. -- unknown "JonquilJan" > wrote in message . .. > Tried it (had good coupons).
