An embarrassment of riches

We went to New Hampsha this week, had dinner at the hotel.
Nice place for being in the middle of nowhere in the White Mountain
area.

Drove around for a day, nothing to see, it was quite foggy. I really
wanted to see the former Man on the Mountain, but why bother.
Visibility was really bad.

So, we went to dinner, as I said, I already had my menu picked
out online. See, this was a sort of mortgage burning dinner. I
orderded seafood stuffed mushrooms and prime rib. I couldn't
decide between prime rib and filet mignon. Finally, I said, the
heck with it, get prime rib.

She started asking me questions. Soup or salad? Uh ... soup?
What kind of potato? Blah blah blah. This was after she'd
brought a loaf of their excellent bread that I adore. I'm in
serious trouble now. I can't eat all this!

So, you know I had some bread. The soup comes, wow, it
was more like vegetable stew, excellent. By the time two of
us had placed our orders, the table was *covered* with
plates and bowls of food. Too funny.

He had a whole steamed lobster. Etc.

Bill came to 50 bucks. It was like a present.

Sounds delish Nancy. Do tell, where did you have this fine meal? I'm
only a couple of hours from the White Mountains and would love to add to
the list of places to dine while out that way.

That *was* a present! I'm glad you had such a good time, and such a fine
meal. Kiss that mortgage good bye for me, okay?

Thank you! (laugh) We were looking over the bill to see
if they missed something. I didn't want to rip them off.
I wish like h*** I could have eaten it all.

Hello, Nancy,
Did you say where the restaurant is - I might have missed that.
Hoping to have a 'good value' meal, too.
Thanks,
Dee

Thank you! Yeah, it's kinda weird. No mortgage? You never
think it will end. We were thinking about it anyway then we
came into a little money.

Stick it in Vanguard as I usually do. Pathetic. I was already
planning on refurnishing the house, guess I'll do that. Ethan
Allen, here I come.

Thanks for asking. nancy

$25 for a lobsta and a prime rib dinner in a modest place, with the
sides, is not unusual outside the NYC area, and especially in coastal
areas.

If you're ever in RI, we'll have to plan on going to Aunt Carrie's:
ocean view, great seafood, and tasty sides.

I must have missed the OP, but I wanted to congratulate you also, Nancy-it
must be SUCH a wonderful feeling to not have that bill every month! Enjoy
the redo, too!
