U.S. beluga decision worries fishermen
Fishermen and government officials fear a sharp drop in income after the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service this week placed the caviar-producing beluga sturgeon — the world's most valuable fish — on its list of threatened species. at http://www.washtimes.com/world/20040...4318-1384r.htm |

Or haven't the quite made the mental connection as to where those eggs come from in the first place? Paul |

The list of animals extincted by brain-dead commercial hunter/fisher types is long and sad. They've done it before and I have no doubt they'll do it again, barring govt intervention. nb |

![]() I read or heard (sorry. I have old broad's disease!) just a snippet in the las few weeks that the US was planning to get into the beluga business by starting to farm the sturgeon - where I don't know. Then I heard that the US was pushing to put the fish on the list as protected. Some reporter said that the two were related and that the uS was going to try and cripple the caspian sea market in order to create a market for the US. Anybody hear any of this? And they are valuable, so the idea of someone farming them isn't either. The idea that those events are some sort of conspiracy is however absurd. What reporter came up with that? Al-Jazerra? He needs another roll of tinfoil, the zeta rays from the black helicopters are penetrating the stuff he has. del |
