My daughter found some Teaberry gum and put it in with my
Christmas gift last year. An old friend of the family
had a house in the country in Massachusetts with real
teaberries (exact same flavor as the gum) growing in the
woods. They were a treat, but not as good as the wild
raspberries there.

I found some Teaberry gum a few years ago, but to me it wasn't the
same. It was sweeter and lacked the slight bitterness that I liked. I
knew it the minute I put it in my mouth. My younger sister, though,
isists it's the same.

Thanks! The Black Jack is out of stock but they have the Teaberry gum.

Does anyone remember a VERY old candy bar called something like
"Tastee (or Tasty) Yeast". My parents owned a small grocery store
in the 50's and 60's and I had free rein at the candy counter,
plus there was a candy store across the street from my elementary
school where you could fill up a small bag with a great variety of
stuff for 5 cents. (For you youngsters, the nostalgia penny
candy you pay a fortune for used to be 3,4 or 5 for a PENNY!)
Ice cream cones were 10 cents, sundaes 25 cents, and most candy
bars were a nickel. Of course minimum wage was $1.25 then.

Meadowlands, On FTV last week they featured this company:
Economy Candy Market
108 Rivington St
New York, NY 10002
(212) 254-1531

They have been in business since 1937 and make it their business to
stock candy that people remember from their childhool. Perhaps you
might have luck closer to home!!

that long braided candy bar was a marathon bar. I think I got enough of those
myself to keep them in business, I don't know why they aren't around anymore.
They were my favorite.

Been lurking here; I've bought lots of old candies at
www.vermontcountrystore.com
Walnettos, Teaberry, etc. gum, but I receive their catalogs, which they
change regularly. Online I didn't find everything, but it may be because
I only have webtv.
They even had the filled Xmas candies I remember from the thirties,
although the shells are thicker and the fillings more sparse, they still
were close enough to evoke memories of Bunte Stuft Confections. (Yes,
I'm that old!)
Check it out!

I don't know if they still sell Eat More. They were some sort of chewed
substance and loaded with peanuts. They were not very good, but as teenagers
we would get them so that we could fold up the wrappers to obscure the o and the
r to read Eat Me. It seemed funny at the time.

What, the chocolate bars with the little bubbles? I'm fairly
sure Nestle still makes those, although it may not be widely sold in
the U.S. I see them in the British goods section of my local grocery
store and Jungle Jim's.

Yup. I can get these at a couple of different grocery stores around
here, including Kroger. They're on the "imports" aisle, not the candy
aisle.

I am pretty sure that both Mallow Cups and Clark Bars still exist. They
are just not widely distributed. I saw Mallow Cups at a store in Pennsylvania
about a year ago. I bought a pack and they tasted just as I remember them,
which wasn't that great.

I dunno, I find that Reeses' Peanut But Cups are better stale---I
don't like them nearly as much since they went to the plastic
packaging.

That said, the Mallow Cups have a September 2003 date on
them---whether that's a manufacture date or an expiration date, it's
not clear.

The Family Dollar store appears to have them by the pallete-load too,
so they definitely exist.

Another one I miss are Blackberry jelly beans. They exactly like an

I haven't seen Zero candy bars in quite a while. Not sure if they are
still made or not.

I like these, too. They're difficult to find, but do still exist. I
saw them recently at Walgreens.

There used to be a long candy bar, which was kind of like braided caramel
dipped in chocolate. I can't remember the name. I think that the
wrapper was red, and it had inches markd off on it to emphasize how long
it was. I used to love them.

Mallow Cups are still manufactured. I live in the town of Altoona, PA where
they're made! However, I really am not a fan of these candies, my finding
them a bit too sticky!
