Default [OT] Hello!

Hi all! Although I get to lurk here once in a while, I haven't
had a chance to do much Usenet lately and I miss RFC! As I told
Carol during my one brief visit to the IRC channel last week, DS
(now 8) has pneumonia. He was doing a lot better, but his symptoms
are worse today. :-( I'm awaiting a call from the doctor's office,
and trying to take my mind off it by reading certain contentious
threads. Just wanted to say hello, and hope all are well...

Glad you popped in to say hi... sorry to hear your son has pneumonia.
It takes a while to recover and it gets worse before it gets better.
I've had "regular" pneumonia and walking - neither is much fun.
You're tired/sleeping all the time and a minor cough escalates (you
can't stop) until you've expelled something from your lungs.

Poor kiddo. Not a fun way to spend summer -- hope he's doing better!

Glad you were able to stop in and say Hi - let's hope we can see more of you
once your son is better. So sorry he has pneumonia - rotten for an adult,
let alone a child.

Always nice to hear from you, Jani. Hope the DS feels better soon.

Thank you Margaret, and everyone else too! Your notes really cheered
me up, as that was a rough day. Buddy (DS) is doing much, much better
now; his tempurature has been normal for nearly a week and he's actually
coughing stuff up, rather than just choking on it. I'm hoping we're near
the end of it. This isn't the first time he's had pneumonia; the first
time he was only 2 months old! This time around wasn't as scary, but
still...

While I'm updating, some may recall that I stopped posting because
my hard drive was acting funky. Luckily it never failed, and I got a
good backup copy. We started having the same problem with DH and Buddy's
drives too (we have a tray system so we each use our own drive); it all
seems okay now, but I wonder if the contacts are dirty or something, as
occasionally the computer just can't see the drives and they make very
curious noises. I've been too worried about Buddy to really chase it
down. :-(

I plan to format my drive in the next week or so, and am going to
rename it when I do, to "S'mee", which is short for "it's me". I've
already changed my Usenet info to reflect that -- I'm getting as bad
as Alan with the name changes, heh. Sure glad to be back in RFC...

Jani, it is good to hear from you. Any time a child is sick, it is
scary. Pneumonia is very serious and I am truly glad that things are
going back to normal for both your son and you.

I hope that all will be good from now on. Let Buddy enjoy his summer
and if he does, your summer will be good, too. )

Thank you for the kind words, Margaret -- he's been disappointed
that his summer hasn't been much fun, but he's very excited about
going camping tonight, and can hardly wait until his dad gets home
from work... :-)
