Default My lunch today

Decided to try a new place, by that I mean they just opened in
the last month or so. Japanese restaurant. They only had the
buffet, no menu dining. Good, I'll try some different stuff.

Sushi/sashimi of all different sorts (what's a Boston roll?).
Um ... shrimp of every description, fried, cold, I don't know,
tempura, whatever. Mussels, oysters, crab legs.

Next station, different kinds of tempura, chicken teriyaki
skewers, miso soup (I *will* try that one day), you know,
on and on, all these different dishes. I skipped the nice
looking fruit section. After a couple of passes, I waved
a red flag in front of the bull and said ... I saw some guy
with cake. Where'd he get it??? (laugh) He came from
that direction (pointing) off he went, returned with some
kind of ... Napoleon waffle thing ... don't ask me, it looked
good. But, he got me a little ice cream cone with chocolate
jimmies. It's been ages and ages since I've had an ice cream
cone, was it good. Get this, real! jimmies! Not those fako
wax ones you usually get everywhere. I took my time eating
that.

Sorry, I didn't do justice to how many items they had to
offer. For the most part the food was very good. It was
a nice change of pace, we'll go back.

Sounds good to me! If the buffet is a good one there is nothing wrong with
it. John and I ate at a Chinese buffet in... oh heck, I don't know, we were
en route last year to Houston, TX. The food was very good (and fresh! we
watched them replenish "old" items with new ones even though we were
literally the only customers in the place). The Wafflehouse and fast food
places surrounding it were packed. We definitely got the better deal

Nancy,

What was the name of it (if you don't mind my asking)? It sounds similar to
one we have here called O'Nami. They have it seperated into: salad, sushi
and sashimi, hot foods (terryaki, yakisoba, pork ribs, lobster, some type of
fish, etc), and there is a seperate dessert bar too.
The food is pretty good, and I don't know where they find such good
watermelon in March. The tempura is one of the best things there, IMHO.
Shrimp and various vegetables...the green beans are especially wonderful. My
husband and his brother enjoy the sushi and the kids love the terryaki and
the yakisoba, as well as the miso soup. The dessert bar starts with green
tea and mango ice cream, then fresh watermelon, strawberries and pineapple,
and then assorted pastries.

Anway, I was just wondering because it sounded so similar! ;-)

I'm embarrassed to say it was something like Yakimora, something
along those lines. I had seen their ads, but didn't commit the name
to memory.

They sure do sound alike. I can remember the last time I was in a
Japanese restaurant, I worked in a Japanese EX IM bank type of
place. One boss (meaning male, no exceptions) took me out for
lunch to thank me for doing some typing chore for them. Please,
don't thank me, we have nothing to talk about, ahhhhh! (laugh)

That was a looong time ago.
