I have a pound of lean ground turkey.
What can I make with it besides burgers or a meatloaf? I'm looking for a lowish-fat, sodium reduced recipe. |

Little tiny burgers the size of cookies, spiced sort of like felafel,
stuffed in pita bread with lettuce, shredded red cabbage, doused with garlic/yogurt/dill sauce. "Jaime" > wrote in message ... >I have a pound of lean ground turkey. > > What can I make with it besides burgers or a meatloaf? > > I'm looking for a lowish-fat, sodium reduced recipe. |

If you had more, I would suggest turkey meatballs, tacos, or buritos, but with only a pound, how about frying that ground turkey in a pan with a bit of olive oil, mix in some diced tomatoes, and a cup or two of tomato sauce and heat it until its bubbly, then serve it over your favorite type of pasta. |

I love to make turkey tacos. I use taco seasoning mix, which is high in sodium, but you could adapt the recipe using your own seasoning. I saute the turkey in a little olive oil until done, then add water and the spices. I also add raisins, chopped fresh garlic and sliced green olives. Derek Juhl |

Besides the many suggestions which have already been offered, and with which I agree completely (especially the chili suggestion), there a Sloppy Joes Meatballs -- either Italian or Swedish Turkey kofta (Indian- or Middle-Eastern-spiced ground turkey skewered and grilled) Bob |

Mix it with ginger, garlic, light soy, shredded carrot, some minced water chestnut, and other veggies you like (I do cabbage and bean sprouts). Fill wonton wrappers or spring-roll wrappers. Steam or fry, as you like. Lovely. serene |

There's a low sodium version from Ortega or OEP - don't recall which, but I see it regularly in grocery stores. |

My daughter had some ground turkey.. can't remember what she made with it, but the texture was horrible. Almost a stringy feel. Was this just poorly ground or perhaps the way she cooked it? I am not a big fan of any ground meat.. so I suppose it wouldn't take much to put me off. Debbie |
