Utterly amazing to me, the ring she has is exactly the same as the one my
dad gave my mom back around 1950 before they were married!

Happy Anniversary y'all!

Is that all - 10 years -, still just children.

Enjoy the day anyway. Go get burger at the Band Box Diner.

Have a great anniversary, you two! It's made even sweeter this year, with
Crash's quick recovery. I wish a continuation of much happiness for both
of you.

Last year our 39th this year our 40th I think she either should be:

A. Canonized
B. Committed

Not sure which.

Maybe both......

I was going to wait until we had some food pictures from today, but since
you brought up the rings, I'll make the album available now, and will
update it after dinner.

I just woke up with a whopper of a sinus headache, and Crash's back hurts
(he fell earlier - actually, he just tipped over). We're trying to decide
between the pseudo-Chinese buffet, the terrific new Mexican place, or
sitting around at home. Me? I'd like to get out of here.

Thanks everyone! There'll be at least one update.

Thanks, Ophelia, but it was our choice. Hubby had worked 7 days of 12 hour
shifts then w/out sleep we had to drive up to our new place and tidy it up
for our visit from our relatives from the London (UK) area the next day.
They returned home yesterday and from what I understand a little late
because there was a bad plane crash at the airport on Tuesday afternoon
during heavy storm. A French plane.

Thank you Carol! My son sent us an Ecard, my daughter sent us a card w/ a
gift certificate to a choice of restaurants.

I got Jim his gift way early. We don't spend a lot on things like this but
I wanted to do something special.

So I went to a local jeweller who advertised engraved gold pendants. You
bring in a picture and they have it
engraved on the pendant. So he has our wedding picture around his neck! It
was very expensive, but he's worth
it.

I'm slack-jawed! That is the most wonderful gift I've ever heard of,
outside of an organ transplant. You're both very fortunate to have one
another.

Okay, here's the account of our day.

We exchanged rings at 11:15 last night, which is when Crash arrived at my
house for our first date. It wasn't really a date. We were chatting on
the local BBS where we met, and decided to go out for some coffee. Crash
had been madly in love for months, but we were from such different worlds,
I really didn't consider him dating material, yet he had become a good
friend.

He came over and picked me up and we went to Perkins for a cup of coffee.
We were there for 5 hours! Once we really started talking, outside of the
group environment we'd always been in, there was no stopping us. I was
stunned! I sent him an e-mail later that day saying something along the
lines of, "Hmmmm."

From that point, we were inseparable. He moved in with me in October, I
believe. He proposed marriage a couple years later, but for a number of
reasons, that's just not a possibility. We're married in spirit, though.

We weathered the deaths of both of our fathers and Crash's sister within
the first 2 years we were together. I've gone through four surgeries with
Crash, and he's gone through three with me. We've had a couple major
financial catastrophes and have moved twice. We've had five dogs, four
cats, a cockatiel, and a variety of fish species (down to 2 dogs and 1 cat
now). We've survived the adolescence of both of our daughters.

We've been through a lot during these ten years, and I wouldn't have it any
other way, because I was with Crash. The love of my life.

Tonight, we went to a new Mexican restaurant in town. I had planned on the
chicken chimichanga, but decided on an enchilada variety platter instead.
One each of chicken, beef, bean, and cheese. They were okay, but I'll get
the chimi next time.

Crash ordered the soft shell beef tacos. They use white Mexican cheese on
everything, and Crash really liked it (at least he said he did).

Went to the drug store to pick up my prescriptions, and I felt like it was
Christmas! My co-pays were finally paid off, and the meds didn't cost us a
thing. Whew! I might not be as much (manic) fun as I have been, but at
least I won't be a bitch (sorry, Sheryl).

Then when we got home, the guy next door and his two daughters were at the
door, bearing more summer squash, a huge bag of already-cleaned green
beans, and a sack of fresh peas. We just couldn't ask for better
neighbors.

When I finish with this post, I'll go in and watch First 48 on A&E with
Crash. I like seeing people brought to justice after they've destroyed
dozens of lives.

Love to all of you, but especially to Crash,
Carol

Thanks Carol; I know I'm blessed to have him. I'm his #3 and he's my #2.
He is such an easy going, loving, caring man. I
just can not fathom why 3 women left him. And it definitely was that way.
He had such a terrible history of difficult
wives. But, you know, I wasn't even leary. He asked me to marry him 2
weeks after we met and we have been happily
together ever since. I'm not saying we don't have blow-ups, everyone does
but nothing major..... except when I went through
the change : (

How romantic!

Jim and I had a really different meeting.

First you have to understand I was a single mom w/ 2 adolescents and had
been on my own for 10 years. I had prayed for a life partner and soon after
receiced an invitation to join a Christian introduction service; only $95.
Not in my budget. I was working 3 jobs to keep us supported. Then a few
months later I received another invitation to join for 1/2 price for women
of my "age". So, I thought ok, I'll try it.

Jim's wife had walked out on him when he wouldn't throw out his son and was
established in an apartment with his son and his son had talked him into
joining the same introduction service.

One of the spiels made by the service that most of their applicants found
someone with their first date.

Jim was my first date. We went to a Chinese restaurant and my fortune
cookie said you have found the one you are looking for. Wow!

Anyway, we have been together ever since. We married a year later and
haven't looked back. Been through the teen years w/ both our kids and
survived that.

Had lots of cats, then a couple of dogs. Now we just have a chihuahua.

Ready to retire, have sold our house and bought a mobile. Have an RV ready
to take off.

Hello,
You've got a real treat ahead of you. My husband and I sold our house in
Washington (state), put our worldly goods in storage and bought a truck and
a trailer. We roamed the country for a year. We got so used to sitting
close to one another in that trailer, that we still huddle close in one room
most of the time after 13 years being back in a house. When we drive by big
lots of trailers, RV's for sale, we look at one another with a knowing
smile.

Funny, you mention a chihuahua. At my f-i-l's assisted living apartment,
the managers who recently left for another part of the country, had an RV,
and they had a picture on their license of a chihuahua. I would see her
walking her little dog each morning when she had her bald-head from cancer
treatments; they were a loving sight to see.

It sure was! And still is! We look at each other and can't believe 20
years have passed. It just seems
like yesterday.
