Default Places to dine in Monterey?

I've been to Monterey a few times already, but usually we're passing through
and stay no more than a day. This time we'll be there for several days, so
I'll need more than Mo's BBQ to get us through. Any suggestions??

Thanks

Right - I couldn't think of those names. Both are pretty popular, I
think.

Oh, yes, See if Fresh Creamery is still there (I had no hits googling
today). Had a memorable meal there last summer.

Been there a number of times and quite frankly haven't found a place I'd
recommend yet..

From my experience, you might want to consider heading a bit south to
Carmel or a bit north to Moss Landing.

Phil's Fish Market in Moss Landing gets a lot of praise as an
old-style seafood restaurant.

Here's a list of recommendations compiled a year or so ago:

Fishwife, Seaside, seafood
Tarpy's Roadhouse, Monterey, American
Tuck Box, Carmel, breakfast
Taste, Pacific Grove, American
Abalonetti, Monterey, Italian & seafood
Montrio, Monterey, Italian
Petra, Pacific Grove, Mediterranean (lunch)
Toastie's, Pacific Grove, breakfast
Mission Ranch, Carmel, lunch
Rio Grill, Carmel, American/southwest

If you mean "Fresh Cream", I understand the chef sold out to new
owners and opened another restaurant near Carmel, then relocated to
Pacific Grove. It's now called Robert's White House:

I can second Phil's. I've been there several times, as recently as
several weeks ago. It's located on what appears to be a small
commercial fishing harbor on Monterey Bay. My seating didn't have a
view of the water (and I don't believe that any of the dining area
seating has views). But, the seafood is fresh and simply prepared. I
had clams and my companion had sand dabs (I think). It's a "half table
service" kind of place, i.e., you place your order at the counter, seat
yourself and a server brings it to your table. Wine and (I think) beer
are available. I don't remember Nexis saying whether there would be
young kids in the group. I wasn't really looking at the menu from that
perspective, but there seemed to be quite a few young kids.

When I first read the subject I thought it said "Places to dine in
Monastery" Sorry, I can't help with your question as I've never been to
Monterey or a Monastery.
