Default Pizza falling from the skies!

Wow!

Two pizzas just arrived on my doorstep from Lou Malnati's in Chicago. I live
in Colorado....I didn't order them, there's no note...and my name is on
them, so it's not a mis-delivery. They're still frozen solid, dry ice and
cooler and all...

This is way too cool. I suspect I know where they came from, but now I'm not
sure if I should ask that person or just go heat up the oven. I'd hate to
thank someone and then find out they didn't send it...

Mmmmmm..pizzzzzzzzzza!

Call Lou Malnati in Chicago. They will tell you who ordered your gift
and than you can eat the pizza and after that, you can call up the
person or persons who sent it. Simple.

So two frozen pizzas with your name on it show up and you ASSUME it's
not a mis-delivery because your name is on the delivery? How stupid are
you anyway? Please check in if you're still alive or not in a hospital
somewhere.

What kind of idiot are YOU, Rich? A misdelivery wouldn't have a person's
name and address on it, let alone from another state, delivered frozen.

Right. When I was a teenager, many, many years ago before they even
publicized these things, a stalker would call me at night and leave me a
foodie gift at the bottom of my stairs to my apartment. Do you think I went
out to look? Not on my life! In daylight the next day I would find it.
This kept up until I left town. Not everything is as innocent as it can be
taken for.

This was a FedEx delivery, next day air, delivered middle of the day, sent
from Chicago to Colorado. No stalker on the doorstep, and we figured out who
sent it, anyway. No problems. Still alive.

I'm glad that everything is OK. I'm still a nervous Nellie as you can see.
When I was alone at my f-i-l's apartment recently, the maintenance man came
to the door. I asked who it was and he said "Maintenance Man" in a
sing-song voice. I only heard "Candy Gram" and the SNL Jaws music
accompanying his voice; and I yelled quickly "GO AWAY!" Never can be too
careful --

Hi, Well do let us all know how the pizzas were!?
I've been to Lou Malnati's, as I used to live in Chicago. Ultimately,
Deep Dish is not my fav, but Lou's was very good, as they used very good
genuine ingredients throughout. Hope you enjoy, Mark

So, who was it? Friend, relative... did you have to call the pizza
place to find out who sent it or did the person who sent it finally
make him/herself known? Did you find out why the pizza place didn't
give you any indication about who the sender was?

Ok, so I typed something I didn't mean too, oops. But was I responding
to you in the first place? NO, so MYOB B***H. This moron receives a food
delivery from some other state with nothing with it as far as we know
stating who sent it. They assume all is well, and go ahead and eat it.
Perhaps it's being overly cautious but I would at least want to know who
sent it before eating it. If for any reason just to know who sent it,
and to be able to thank them personally. There are enough people in the
world who would attempt to cause harm to other people even people they
don’t know. Think back to the Tylenol poisonings that happened in the
past. Things like that do happen, you idiot.

Now as for you Ms. Whoever since WHEN were we on a FIRST name basis? Not
since ANY time I remember. Even though I lurk here quite a bit, until
NOW I always thought your posts were worth reading but no more - into
the kill file you go, B.

You post something to a ng, anyone and everyone can and will respond.

How fun! I'm sure I'll find your killfile nice and cozy. Who are you to
call the OP a moron for getting a package delivered to her house? She
stated she thought she knew who it was from in her post, so I guess it's DUH
again.

Uhhhhhh, errrrr, NO!

OP doesn't mention the location of the suspected sender. Are they
local or back in Chicago or ???.

They may be sitting a mile away waiting for an invite.

The pizzas came from a friend of my hubby's. I spent a bit of time with him
on the phone helping him with some computer issues, so he sent me the pizzas
as a "thank you."

That's who I figured it was, but it's also the same week as our wedding
anniversary, so I had a couple other suspects I had to weed out of the
equation before I thanked the wrong person, which could have been awkward.
And then he called and left a message on the machine, so there wasn't any
question.

I don't know why they didn't say who the order was from; it might have been
an error on their part, or he might not have thought of it when he ordered.
He probably planned on calling anyway.

We had the first pizza last night. Pan pizza isn't my favorite, but it was
good, and a darned thoughtful gesture on his part.

If something arrived on my doorstep and I absolutely couldn't think of
anyone who could have sent it, I would have been a bit suspicious. But in
this case, it was more a matter of which one it was. And considering how
pricey it is to send food next-day air from there to here (I know, I've done
it), it just didn't make sense that it was a practical joke or a random
stranger.

And, as far as "being on a first name basis" -- you post as "Rich" so
she addressed you as such. If you don't want people using the first
name, then post as "Mr. Soandso."

Well, Donna, I was happy for you and your surprise pizza, I was
pretty surprised myself to see what a strange turn the thread took,
immediately. I would have done the same thing you did. Hope
the pizzas were good.

What a nice and thoughtful guy! Too bad there was no enclosure so
that you could have called to thank him w/o turning into a detective.
In any case, I like pan pizza (you mean deep dish, right?) and I would
have been very, very pleased (shocked, but pleased) by that thank you
gesture.

Rich states: "Ok, so I typed something I didn't mean too, oops. But
was I responding
to you in the first place?"

It should be "I typed something I didn't mean to"--"too" denotes "also".

I was a little surprised, too, at the turn in the conversation, but if
you've been stalked before, I guess that's the first thing that comes to
mind. On the other hand, I had a few people in mind who might have gifted us
with Chicago food. My worry wasn't poisoning, it was thanking the wrong
person.

The first pizza is gone, the second is waiting in the freezer. It will be
perfect for one of those days when I just don't have time to get into the
kitchen to make something else for dinner.

When I help friends or family with their computer problems, I don't expect
payment, but it's happened before that someone has sent me something. It's
certainly a nice gesture.

As far as the enclosure, he called soon enough that it wasn't such an issue.
I think he planned it that way. Have the pizzas arrive and let me wonder for
a few hours, then call and admit to sending them. Me not being here to
answer the phone when he called added some time to that, as well. The
speculating as to who might have sent them was part of the fun, though.

I've followed your posts in several NG's for quite awhile Jill. I thank you not only
for posting thought provoking food ideas, but for injecting a note of sanity such
as in this thread. Yes, I have a killfile. There are three posters in it. They earned
their place there by continually posting derogatory comments about other posters.
Not only do I reject any posts they make, but all other posts that include references
to them. Bad manners are not acceptable in my house. Not even on my computer.

Thank you! I was probably a little more harsh than I should have been, but
it was just silly to think it was a misdelivery. Equally weird to think
someone trying to poison someone would have frozen pizzas sent from another
state to do it.

When John and I were working at the art show in Minneapolis last year, food
was hard to find. They'd changed the show so it was sponsored by the
restaurants by the Stone Arch bridge... there were no food vendors to speak
of. You can't leave the booth and go dine in a restaurant and the
restaurants were rather pricey. We were therefore very surprised (and
pleased!) when a couple who had just made a rather sizeable purchase from
him came back a while later with a couple of pizzas for us! We sure didn't
think they might be trying to do us any harm It was a very thoughtful
gesture!

I think your tin hat is a little too tight.... You must be out of
your mind to talk like this because, You know they will be coming for
you in the black helicopters if you keep spoiling their plans to take
over the world with their anonymous poisoned pizzas.
