Went to do my "Monday" shopping at our local supermarket.... Got to the
check-out and presented my credit card. Nothing unusual there... except
that this time the bank was "off-line" so I had to wait while the
manager phoned for clearance. Not his fault, but a bit irritating.
Eventually, he got clearance and gave me my card back. He apologized
and asked me to wait for "one more minute". Next thing I knew, one of
his staff handed me a wonderful cream cake - for nothing! We had a piece
with our coffee when I got home, and it was great. What a pleasant
surprise... And yes, I did check when I got home - the correct amount
went through on my card

Heh...I can just imagine all the shoppers behind you putting their cash away
and pulling out their credit cards...
