Looking for help (cooking related)
I'm hoping someone here may have an answer for me. I bought a covered
opaque glass dish will a clear but pebble texture lid at a yard sale yesterday. It's oblong 9x7 inches. It says it's for slow cooking only. The imprint on the bottom is from Proctor Silex and says "slow cook Proctor Silex dish" I'm wondering if it can be used in the oven. I've gone to their web site and can't find anything that would use this dish. It also has kind of a "70's" look to it because of the rust coloured wheat pattern on the sides. Anyone??? Tia...Sharon |

Tia...Sharon yes - I know exactly what this thing is ... just how to describe it I am not sure lol It is a slow cooker type thing...it sits on a hot plate - make sense? Imagine taking the heating element and the "crock" of a normal slow cooker and separating them.... and you will have this thing.... I don't know if it can go in an oven though - my aunt has one (still works) I don't know that she has ever attempted to use it in the oven though.... I am going to keep searching for this thing 'cause stuff like this will bug me and keep me awake all night lol Similar to this perhaps.... http://heh.pl/&1C3 here's one that's a bit closer....scroll through the stew recipe... http://iwant.on.ca/Recipes/SlowCookerBeefStew.html That's about the best I can do I searched through 12 pages of crock pot images lol Roberta (in VA) |

Tia...Sharon Sounds like you got the slow cooker dish, but not the heat plate that goes under it. I would think that low temp baking should be fine with it. --- "Foutain of youth? The dish I got at the yard sale is glass, like a casserole dish, only oblong and about 2 inches deep with a flat glass lid, no knob like some casserole lids. I searched too, and will try calling Proctor Silex this morning. Thanks for the help ......Sharon |
