Frank, what are you looking for exactly? A software with recipes, or a
recipe organizer?

Shop'NCook Cookbook Reader is free but won't let you organize your own
recipes. You can download it at http://www.shopncook.com/reader.html .
You can get there also free cookbooks totaling thousands of recipes.

I can recommend otherwise Shop'NCook Shopping List & Recipe Manager
(http://www.shopncook.com). It is not free, but will let you organize
your collection of recipes - and make your own cookbooks that you can
share with the free Cookbook Reader. You can download it for a free
trial at http://www.shopncook.com/download.html .

Meal Master's not bad. Lots of recipes online in that format. It's
free.
http://home.comcast.net/~episoft/

Master Cook (not free) is widely used too.

I like and use both MasterCook and NYC both have a load of features
Mealmaster doesn't have. And not that pricey. I tried MM and it left me
wanting. It is more or less a aged DOS program.

While MC can do fanicer printing of recipes. NYC searches faster.
To me the printing fancy isn't important. As long as I can read the
recipe I could careless what style, layout, font or what cutesy images
are printed with it.

MasterCook can be bought on Amazon.com
NYC is shareware and can be test-run or purchased at ffts.com

The benifits of getting a software pkg like either MC or NYC is there's a
mess of recipes out there that are all ready converted to their format.
While MM was the first Recipe software it is kinda dated in all respects
these days.

Both MC and NYC give shopping lists, image display, nutritional info,
screen importing, good search features plus many other features.

NYC come with the option (for a price) lifelong updates of new features.
MC does not.

NYC has active and good, free tech support. E-mail replies within 4 hours
usually.

Never got tech support from MC. At least they never e-mailed me back.

MealMaster is free so no tech support (at least that I'm aware of).

Also Microsoft has a free ready made database template for their Database
MS Access. Downloadable from their Office website.

Whatever software you end up with don't forget...the majority of recipe
will have to be entered by you. So pick one that allows easy recipe cut
and paste features.

Hey Frank!
I thought I needed recipe software but I don't even use it anymore.
Check out all the free recipe archives available on the Internet!
Instead of buying recipe software set your web browser on the "adult
search engine" called "Google" ! Type in "recipe" and hit the search
button...you will be amazed to see over nineteen million web pages
available with recipes! If you really are impressed with a certain
recipe just bookmark it in your web browser.

Regards,
Bill
