Believe it or not, this outfit was actually cool strolling around the
grounds of a former (minor) battle area in west Tennessee. The hoops under
the skirt served nicely as "air conditioning"... seriously. Actually much
more comfortable than jeans or sweats on a hot day! Of course if you had a
mad mother who wanted your laced corset too tight (not me!) you probably
couldn't breathe so weren't worried about how hot you were; just
concentrating on not passing out.

Wish you could have seen the entire photo... velvet skirt over 3 hoops. It
was Halloween 2003. I was called into the 2nd director of ITs office and
the first thing he said to me, "I love your gown! and your hat!" LOL He
sung my praises... which led me to believe watch out. Did I mention wigs

Years ago I went to a Halloween costume party where the theme was Broadway
musical characters. I went as Ethel Merman in her role as Rose in Gypsy,
along with a friend who went as Gypsy Rose Lee. The three things I
remember that gave me the most grief were the wig, the artificial nails,
and the heels! We won first prize for best executed costumes.

I dunno...I figured it out pretty quickly.

By the way, my paperwork has been submitted to two hospitals in that
region. One closer (Stanford) and the other in Salinas. You still
want to come to dinner if I am in Salinas?

Safari is a MacOS X application; it won't run on MacOS 9 at all.

I want to try copper and eggs, because I already tried with eggs, without
success.

Mhhhhh! What you say is winning! Perhaps if you cook for me and you don't
tell me that inside ther is a snail, I would try and perhaps I would like
them.
Here in Italy ( especially in Rome zone and central Italy) they use to eat
snails in the Saint John day (24 june), during the snail feast that we call
"Lumacata" (Lumaca is snail in Italian, where Lumacata is = snail's
blowout).
Once upon a time some friends convinced me to eat them (they were cooked
with a tomato sauce), but I didn't like at all!
Cheers

OMG! I remember my mom somehow got her hands on costumes (as a kid) from
Gypsy Rose Lee!!!!! She got to play dress-ups in her old costumes... how
the hell that happened in Ohio, I don't know. I'll have to call her
tomorrow to ask her about this again. Too funny!

Chuckle. I put myself right at the end of the blackberry patch out
back. Probably should have put myself in the front yard where the

I read an article in Smithsonian Magagzine about Coco Chanel... she was a
truly different clothing stylist but not the Donna Reed type. Donna Reed
still makes me think of 'It's a Wonderful Life'. My Dad's aunt lived down
the street from Jimmy Stewart in Indiana, Pennsylvania. How fun! Dad (81
years old) remembers him.

Yes, near my country, as you can see, there are alps! It takes about 3 hours
to pass the frontier.

Christine, Thank you. I really do not know how I ended up near
Greenland, when I clicked on New York City, to be precise, on the head
of Curly Sue. It was she, most likely, who banished me because I was
crowding her.

I am glad to be gone from those cold waters. Thank you, MS

Thanks for letting me know that Miche. I haven't been on Mac at a
personal level very long and am still learning. I have Mac OS X.

Obfood - It isn't quite 8 am here and my last batch of roasted tomato
sauce has been on the grill for about 40 min. It just might be an early

No, this time a bottle of Scotch would not have helped. I was too
upset when I realized that I was in the wild waters of Greenland
instead of the Upper East Side of Manhattan, in New York City. I
didn't know I was marooned there, until I happened to look, saw the
icon and tried to find out who it was.

Yes, I was surprised to see it was I. I went to the nearest mirror,
to check and make sure that I was really at home and looked out the
nearest window to ascertain that I was really in New York.

I will always be grateful that Christine rescued me. Thank you, once
more, MS

Christine,

How do you delete someone? I have two different maps, one for Edible
Gardens and the other is a high school reunion site, where we intend
to vote for the next reunion site.

Snails are pretty delicate. If they aren't cooked "just right", they
are like rubber. Like overcooked calimari. Quelle tragedie! (ain't

Thanks, Dearie. I've been avoiding OS X. My new laptop will have it,
though. Tiger, I suppose.

How's the Muffin? La Twerp is coming to visit next week -- her first
visit to the State Fair and she's pumped for the rides and the animals.

If you set up the maps yourself, you should have an administration
page. I have that page bookmarked on my computer.

Anyway, it will give you a list of all the people who have put
themselves on your map. And right beside their names will be a little
<delete>.

If you click on the delete, it will delete that person/thing/whatever.

OS X has the ability to run lower versions of Mac OS so you don't have
to give up everything. I came to Mac after using a PC forever. I have
virtual pc but don't really use it much. I just head back to my PC when
I need too. From what I've experienced of OS X you won't have a problems

When you step outside it feels much hotter than it is. You are in a fairly
temperate zone; after all, you have cool fog! It's going to be 98F here
again today... I'm so tired of it.

Bloody hell, Jill! They say women are from Venus, but it sounds like
that's where you *are*. ;-)

Here in the tropics at 17 S we hardly ever get that warm -- mind you,
we're probably only 25 or so km per crow from the coast, so that helps
(as does a few hundred metres of altitude :-). Directly west of us,
places like Normanton and Burketown expect heatwave conditions for
three months of the year on average. They're actually closer to the
coast than we are, but their coast is the Gulf of Carpentaria, a
stagnant shallow pool of tepid water if there ever was one. We have
the whole Pacific Ocean to the east.

All that said, I think the hottest I've ever felt was in Tifton GA
years ago -- though, in truth, I was in something of a lather of sweat
most of the way from New York to Lake Okeechobee. (Caught a fish in
the latter one evening over a stubbie or three, but chucked it back.)

Have a cold one on me!

Cheers, Phred.

Here in AZ our 3 worst months range from 110-118. Half of that time is
usually not too bad as it is very dry. OTOH, the other half is when we
hit monsoon and it's like a bloody steam bath. It will be around 111
today with a dewpoint of 67. I'm not going out!

Your attitude is similar to mine when it's -40 to -50 F here in the
winter.

I tell my Minnesota friends;
You have eight months when you stay indoors with the furnace running.

We have three months when we stay indoors with the A/C running.
.....and I NEVER have to shovel out the driveway. ;o)

Dear Christine, Thank you, it feels good to be home from the cold
waters off Greenland. Now I need another favor.

Perhaps you or Jill or Carol can delete someone from our map.

In New York City, on the Upper West Side on Central Park West between
84 and 85th Street, someone who does not belong on the map sneaked in.
Since he does not even know how to spell his name and is not in any
way connected with rfc, he has to go.

Thank you very much. If you need more information, I will be able to
supply it. MS

Anything over 80° feels like *Hell* to me!

I still remember summertime humidity and sleeping on the floor because
the bed felt too "wet" - except the floor also felt "wet". I couldn't
ever get comfortable. Blech! It's not an experience I want to
repeat. The other nice part of living where I live is... no
noticeable amount of biting insects during the summertime - unless (of
course) someone nearby has standing water for them to multiply in.
