Default Map of RFC'ers

Heya all,

I found this handy little map thingie from Google, whereby we can show
where we all live. You don't have to put down your address, so it is
rather annoymous, but it can pinpoint you rather well.

I set up one for RFC, in case you want to place yourself on the map.

The URL is:

http://myguestmap.lorca.eti.br/guest...an02&locale=en

I have already put up my permanent address, but I might add my
temporary ones as well...

I found it on another food/etc site, called Mouthfuls. One of the
posters there set up one for folks there.

I just remembered it when I saw the posts from sf and Wayne, about
determining where folks are. Thought it would be cool for us here...

I just put in my temporary "home"...

I am trying to figure out how to change my own little icon..to the one
I used for my temporary one.

Well, I put mine there, then when I zoomed in, it was WAAAY off where
I intended it to be. It won't let me fix it, will it?

Okay..

This is what I did..for what it is worth.

Zoom way down...to your street level..and put your marker where your
house is.

The trick is to zoom way, way down first....then put the marker...

Christine

PS. To all you folks that are putting the marker wrong..let me
know..and I can delete it... Then you will just have the correct
marker.

Neat stuff. I wish the navigation controls floated over the map. Nice to
see the satellite views, too.

Media, PA, the only town in the United States that still has a trolley
running down mainstreet.

Nice to see cathyxyz as the sole representative of the continent of
Africa. "Weight of the world" stuff!

Zooming in... slide the scale marker on the left of the page waaaay up. You
may need to move the map using the arrows above the scale. I can see why sf
was surprised at the size of Memphis... took me a while to even locate my
neighborhood outside of Memphis in Cordova! And I had no idea we have a
"Lake Memphis" LOL

If this map is for military bombing purposes, bomb Media, PA during the

Christine, I put mine (Mounties Wanted) where it was pinpointed, but it
ended up just south of the Minnesota border - if you'll delete it, I'll
try again.
Thanks.

I don't have a doorbell so you're sh** out of luck <G> Besides, why would
you want to come down here where it's 95F with a heat index of 104? At
least you have a swimming pool in your back yard!

Anybody else get it to work with Firefox? I see a big black gray
rectangle.

A few tips...

If you have a two button mouse, hold the left mouse button down to drag
the world around. That way, the navigation controls do "hover" over the
map and you don't have to scroll the browser's window around.

After you click on an RFC head (where's the chef hats?) and their
"balloon" displays, grab the zoom "thumb" and throw it to the top for a
quick, accurate "zoom in to the max" of that member.

Only one small problem. I couldn't put my icon where I am because there are

You mean delete you too?

Carol, I deleted you, so put your correct "place" in...

Same for everyone else.

And, if you can somehow let me know which one is the correct one, that
would help!!!

If you zoom way down, like I have described in later posts, you can
put your marker exactly where you are.

It is hard to control placement of the little bugger! I ended up a little
too far north of Salt Lake City, but what the hell!
