Default a good marinade for tuna steaks?

I'm looking for a tasty marinade for tuna steaks - preferably something not too
salty.

Thanks in advance,
Jen

I *used* to use bottled Italian dressing, but I've started using rubs instead of
marinating.

http://www.dizzypigbbq.com/ has a great selection of rubs that I use
extensively
Ragin' River rub is great on salmon, but I'd probably go for the Tsunami Spin or
the Jamaican Firewalk for tuna steaks. I don't know why, that's just a feeling
I get.

Whatsamatter, you don't like tuna... what's wrong with a little s n' p and just
enough oil to keep it from sticking? Fresh tuna steak is an expensive piece of
meat... do you marinate porterhouse steak too? DUH! I swear, some of yoose
most definitely have your taste in your ass, you, and anyone who supports your
fercocktah methods, ANYONE, ANYWHERE! Idiots.

Tuna is firm and dry so I like to crust it with ground nuts (pistachios are
good), nuts are mostly oil, making it easy to cook in a hot pan without
sticking. Marinating fish is for those who really don't like the flavor of
fish... marinating tuna ruins it, a crime... yoose want marinated fish, think
pickled herring.

I like putting some fennel seed and coarsely-ground black peppercorns in a
ziplock bag with a bit of e-v olive oil. Seal the bag with most of the air
out, then roll it with a rolling pin or a heavy can to crush the fennel and
pepper into the oil. When you think it is ready, put the tuna in the bag
and seal again. I like to make sure the oil and crushed ingredients are
distributed over both sides of the tuna, and let it rest for at least an
hour before grilling. Sometimes I like to change it up a bit by also adding
a small bit of lime juice and or soy sauce.

Zip-Loc bags are strong but not that strong... you'd not want to trust it for
birth control... it'd be so full of holes it'd leak like a sieve. I don't
believe you.

Sorry you've never heard of ziplock freezer bags. Much stronger.
But then, sounds like you just want to whine and complain.

Actually I marinate a LOT of stuff in Ziplock freezer bags (chicken and
pork mainly). I've found that *double* bagging is oft - times
necessary...just to be on the safe side....
