Default Pictures (like clip-art) to put on recipes

Does anyone know where I can source free clip art types of pictures to put
on my recipes so they look colourful?

I can get to Microsoft's lists but I was wondering if there were any others.
I know there's heaps of subscribe type ones and CD based ones but I was
looking for freebies.

thanks

There are a couple, perhaps more, clip art alt news groups. Something
like 'alt.binaries.clipart'.

I remember looking at them a few months back and recall that the 'art'
is all public domain type stuff. And that the regulars there seem to be
quite helpful with requests for specific types of clip art.

Let me know if you can not find them on your own and i will look them up
on my old netscape browser that has a search feature for news groups.

Went straight there - it's got a hyphen in it as in clip-art. Your memory
is good - it has good stuff there. I've hooked into it and will ask some
questions of them. Thank you.

Google is your friend. Use Google IMAGES search. Go to Google (duh) and
click on the "Images" link.

THEN, enter the name of the picture you want. I.E. "Hot Dog.jpg" or
"porkchop.jpg" or whatever. Remember that "Pork Chop" (2 words) will
deliver different results than "Porkchop" (1 word).

You can also just search without the file type i.e.: "Hot Dog" and you will
also get ".gif" files as well as ".jpg" files. Sometimes the "gif" files
are motion ones for use (by theft) in a webpage.

Google is your friend.

What a great idea.
I save all the .gifs in a file that I've run across over the years to send
in emails or to add to my website.
But going to google-images-coffee for instance --
now that's -- thinking out of the box!
Great idea and Thanks, Van.

Do you have a digital camera? Take a picture of the recipe at some
stage of preparation or completion or service and use the photo.

I did a family recipe book, and just googled until I found enough that
I liked that were the same style - all free. It took a while, but it
was worth it.

I didn't put an illustration with every recipe - just now and then.
