I've had shitake's fresh, dried and rehydrated from dried but never
canned! I spotted these at the oriental market last time I was there for $1.26 per 14 oz. can. Opened them a bit ago, drained and sauteed' them in a bit of butter all by themselves. You know how most mushrooms get rubbery when canned? These did not! They were surprisingly tender and quite flavorful. Unfortunately, I only bought one can to try them. I'll remedy that error next time I'm in Austin. ;-d Cheers! -- Om. "My mother never saw the irony in calling me a son-of-a-bitch." -Jack Nicholson |
