While I realize that most relationships with "new" kitchen gadgets are
at best fleeting affairs, I believe my Hamilton Grill and I are going to end up having a long term, permanent relationship. ;-) Anyone else fall in love with a kitchen gadget? Cheers! -- Om. "My mother never saw the irony in calling me a son-of-a-bitch." -Jack Nicholson |

I find a microplane zester work very well for grating ginger - it grates into smaller bits than a normal grater, which is good for something as fibrous as ginger. Of course, it is also fabulous for grating nutmeg. Later, Mark Muller |

I just love my garlic press. I can't dice garlic finely enough to
disperse it evenly throughout a dish, and I haven't mastered the smash it with a knife trick. My garlic press does the job! Tara |

It's just some nothing brand from the grocery store. It's nice, though -- rinses clean beautifully. I don't even peel the garlic, just drop it in the press and give it a squeeze. Tara |

Gods help me if I ever get my finger under it (so far that's not happened!). I can literally slice tomato paper thin with that thing. I'll have to google for yours. I'm curious now! Fleishman's has a nice recipe book for breadmaking. Now is the perfect time of the year to make apple bread. It has chunks of apples in it with a nice mild spicy flavour. If you want the recipe, I can post it for you. I make more tomato bread this time of year too just by adding cherry tomatoes and fresh basil to a basic white bread recipe. This is out of necessity since my plants are overflowing in tomatoes! > > Just got a yogurt maker. If it works good, I'll be in love with that > too. I've had a Salton yogurt maker for years. It's the kind with the little jars. I use it quite a bit. My number one favourite small kitchen gadget is a small handheld rotary cheese grater that I use mainly for grating parmesan cheese. My number one favourite large kitchen gadget is my 22 L Mirro pressure canner. The number one gadget I would never buy is an electric can opener. I went through a couple of them before buying a good hand operated one. > > maxine in ri |
