Isn't that wonderful? - you have to liquidate everything you've accumulated over
a lifetime as well as inherited then you can "become a ward of the state" in
whatever nursing home is the least expensive.

Nice....

It's great stuff! I take glucosamine and chondroitin in one capsule.
But... I've already had one surgery and I'm trying to avoid another. I've
lost a lot of weight and that helps, but unfortunately the damage is already
done and arthritis doesn't go away.

What is that? Can I just buy it at the store? Or do I have to go back
to my orthopedic surgeon?

LOL. Too true. I liked it when my wife was still working and I was on a
four day work week. I had one day a week all to myself. One of the
things we were told at the retirement seminar was "I married you for
better or for worse but not for lunch." :-)

It is an over the counter supplement - Go to the arthritis.org and check it out.

You should let you physician know - all of them.

It is also called ostiobioflex <sp> and many other brand names. It ain't
cheap.and it can take several months before you notice a difference.

As a bit of a follow-up I have no cartilage in one knee and about 1/2 in the
other. I used to eat anti-inflammatories like candy and could not stay asleep
at night. I would turn over and the pain would wake me up. About 3 or 4 years
ago my internist put me on 1500 & 1200 per day and then doubled the dosage.
After about 6 months I noticed that had a lot less pain doing the normal
things. I had been told by my orthopedic surgeon that I would have to have my
knees replaced. It may get worse I don't know but today I don't need the
surgery.
(well maybe a lobotomy) LOL

Depends on how much cartilage is gone and your particular body
chemistry but for most people it can take too many years for
glucosamine to build up cartilage, and in most cases cartilage erodes
faster than glucosamine replaces it. Orthopedists nowadays recommend a
course of "Synvisc"... no legit Orthopedist will consider knee
replacement before the patient tries at least two rounds.

I buy mine at my local Walmart in Canada. It was my orthopod who prescribed
it for me, but it's not a prescription
it's listed as a natural product. I'm just blessed that I can claim
anything my doctor prescribed prescription or
otherwise. i take 3 900 mg per day.

Here's a site with info.

Well I now have two metal knees. The last one installed last week. Of
course I am still sore with the last one but the previous is marvellous...
no pain.........................

We do.

That is, you do and I do - although I'm wondering a bit about me ... :-(

Never could dash ...

My take on pension schemes is the following:

You save in a pension scheme and accumulate (for example, not an actual
figure) £/$ x.

OK?

You retire at 65 - parties, clocks, handshakes, the lot.

At 65 +one day you die - naturally or by bus or whatever.

Where's your pension?

What's your estate worth for your heirs?

Now, the alternative.

You save in a bank account, building society whatever. You accumulate (for
example, not an actual figure) £/$ x.

At 65 you retire, parties etc.

At 65 + one day you die - naturally or by bus or whatever.

Where are your savings?

What's your estate worth for your heirs?

£/$ x - one day.

Guess what we've done?

Mary

I don't know. The impossible?

Obviously, if you know that you are going to die the day after you
retire at age 65, then you should take your retirement as cash and not
an annuity (monthly payments). Better yet, you should retire earlier so
you can enjoy your money! Say retire at age 55, and spend 10% of your
money each year so you get maximum enjoyment out of it.

Of course, very few of us have the luxury of knowing when we will die.
That's why we have life insurance and pensions. Given an amount of "x"
at retirement, the pension folks can guarantee a fixed monthly amount
for the rest of your life. Those people who die early lose money, those
who live longer get more money, but on average, it works out. Of
course, if you have been supporting a spouse or dependents, you can have
the pension continue after you die, until they die or are no longer
dependent. I just retired, and was given five different options. The
last was a "build it yourself" where I could specify pretty much
whatever I wanted. Of course, they are going to plug all of this into
their formulas, and your monthly pension payment will go down according
to what you specify. The highest is just myself, and then less to cover
my spouse if I die first, and then less as others are added.

First... we have to get moved. That was supposed to be today. We didn't
realize just how much stuff we still had. I couldn't help Jim except for
packing and I did a lot of that. But here it is 9 pm and Jim just told me
an hour ago that he can't do any more. So we've had the truck all day and
it won't be back tomorrow by 7 as planned so we will add another $250 onto
our bill. Gee I wish we could have afforded movers!

It'll all soon be over and we can get on with our lives.

Marriz, you apparently know very little about computers and the
internet. If you would track back to your OP on this thread you
would see it was cross posted by your friend "MOM". Showing up on
the RV news group with out invite and drew a few polite replies
before it was detected that it had been cross posted. The best thing
you can do is change the title like I have.

$500 is still cheaper than movers, and only slightly more stressful.

Good luck tomorrow. It does take less time to unload, since it's all

Thanks maxine. I tripped and fell yesterday and now I feel like a truck ran
over me. I can hardly walk because
I landed on my knee's and they were bad before that. But, we'll make it and
as Jim said last night, we'll look
back and laugh at it.

I dont know what country you're in MOM ,but im in Australia. Ive been
retired about 10 years now and we've travelled Aus 5 complete trips. Theres
nothing greater to wake up somewhere in the country and realise the only
place youve GOT to be today is where ever you choose.
Youre going to have a great time, good health, dont let anyone rush you... PJ

That is correct. When you stick another news group on the address
and continue on with a conversation, you have literally invited any
one that receives your post to reply to it. That is what MoM did so
dont act like an ignorant ass hole, get smart, get over it, get off
the wrong news group by adjusting your address list.
