Default New Electric Skillet Brag

Just bought a new electric skillet to replace the old Farberware
(thermostat was 25 - 50° off periodically, and I got tired of
constantly having to check the temp with an instant read thermometer).
Bought a Cuisinart CSK-150, which just rocks. I can actually get an
entire cut-up chicken in it without crowding. Has a non-stick surface
(which the Farberware didn't, and, boy did stuff stick) and helper
handles. It also has a glass top, which is great to observe how stuff
is coming along.

I'm thinking comfort food this weekend (our next trial begins Oct. 3),
say, chicken fried steak with gravy :-)

Electric skillets do an excellent job of poaching fish. Just set the cooking
temperature for the final temperature that you want the fish to be, and the
fish will never get overcooked. (Tip courtesy of the "Good Eats" episode on
poaching. I tried it last Christmas Eve and it works.)

Is that it? Wow, that's really attractive (electric skillet design has come
a long way from the ones I grew up with ). I might have to see if I can
find such a thing, I'm sure I could come up with some good uses for it ...

4 quarts. It's *huge* compared to my old Farberware and, you're right,
the "dishwasher friendly feature" was definitely an eye catcher.

It's deep enough at 3" and you could sure do a number of them at a
time at 15" x 18".

I've also just ordered a new crockpot, a Deni 4-quart Versi-cooker. I
swear, appliance failures are like jungle drums to your other
appliances. This thing purportedly deep-fries, slow-cooks, boils,
fries, sautes, and steams. If it really works, I shoulda bought the
Deni *first*. <head shaking>
