Does anyone know where I can buy a microwave-safe meat thermometer?
I've seen them mentioned in passing in web pages, but I have not
been able to find any for sale (or even a manufacturer that makes
them).

You might find what you want at a decent cookwares store. If not,
why not just use an instant read meat thermometer? It should be easy
enough to open the microwave oven, insert the thermometer and read it,
then remove it and cook further if necessary.

I want to leave the probe in place, because I don't want to poke
the meat any more times than necessary.

So poke it in the same place each time. Loss of heat from the
microwave is not an issue, since the nuking is what does the work.

Are you sure your micro doesn't have a probe? They used to come
standard.

I bought a new one last year because the old one burned out. The new one
does not have a thermometer probe. I think some do but are in the higher
price range with all the other bells and whistles one can have on them.
