Default ALCHERMES

I've found, at least, my book of liqueurs.
So, I copy, what is written.
I've never tried to do this, but it seems to me a good recipe.
The problem, IMHO, is to find cochineal: chemist's or herborist?
What do you say?

ALCHERMES
7g cinnamom (bark);
4 g. cochineal;
1,5 g. macis;
1 g cloves;
1 g cardamom;
1 g. vanilla;
60g. roses water;
350 g. alcohol 95°;
350g. sugar;
500 g. water;
------------------------------------
Put spices, alcohol and 200 g of water in an ermetic glass bowl (for 15
days) shaking two times a day.
Spent 15 days, melt sugar in the remaining 300g of water and add it to the
soaked. Let it rest for one day, then filter, and only at the moment of
bottling, add the rose's water.

Cheers

Sounds like my kind of liqueur.... it uses 95% alcohol

As for the cochineal... Have you got a big cactus growing in your garden
- you can find it on some of the inhabitants there... <just joking>
Seriously - thought it was just a food coloring.... so try your local
supermarket...
