Part of it. The back 40 is another acre.

Lovely photo! I really like your glass sunroom. Is it heated and/or
cooled? My grandparents in Ohio turned their old front porch into a sunroom
but they never bothered to heat it (they didn't have A/C) so it was pretty
much not in use in the the cold months.

Mornin' Jill,

Thanks, but it's not glass, rather a screened porch which makes it a
very seasonal place to be, unfortunately.

That doesn't explain why I'm awake at such an ungodly hour. Rather a
couple cocktails, good music and an unbelievably comfortable wicker
chair and presto, I've woken up on the porch.

Repeat Until Awake
Cockadoodledoo
End Repeat

Wow, great view! I see you do live in the "country" Everything looks
so nice and green - makes a change for us - we are just going into
spring here, so things are looking rather drab and yellow at the moment...

You're just finished winter! It's going to be beautiful, soon,
obviously!

I hope so... depends on when the rains come... we have had one thunder
storm which lasted about 20 minutes and produced about 5 drops of rain.
We have been watering our garden around the house from our bore hole
water (I think you call it a well) but as we live on about 25 acres the
rest of the land has to wait for nature to do it's thing.

OBFood: The good news is - we can braai (grill/BBQ - whatever) again! I
just love cooking outside. We have a big back porch (right next to the
kitchen) with a roof - and it is so great to cook and eat out there on
hot summer evenings.

Cheers

cathy,

Sometime, we rfc members could see a picture of the backyard braai?

I will try to remember to take a pic next time we braai. We are having
leftovers tonight, but we are bound to braai something over the weekend...

We live about 30 miles south of Winchester, VA and MANY of our leaves are
fallen and turned yellow, grown cover is brown. Love your porch. Seeing
your nice evergreen tree, we have many trees around our house, but only the
kind that will grow in the worse soil. We were naive enough to plant 100
pine trees the first year we came here (1993) that we got from the forest
service, 2 have survived and one of those has that rust on it. Now, we
still have the indigenous trees only and only a birch river bark that has
survived.
Your porch is wonderful.
Want one!

Wow! That's some fine mesh screening; I can't even see it!

LOL Sounds like a good reason to fall asleep on the porch!

That's because the picture was shot from low light (indoors) to bright
light (outdoors, which is why the flash didn't activate) so the camera
focused at distant objects outdoors rather than nearer objects, had the
flash activated the screen would have obviated the outdoors ... fairly
low resolution camera too. This is one of the most common mistakes,
shooting people/objects indoors while pointing at an open window during
daylight... the brightest light source in the composition is what most
affects the auto focus... of course pointing at a glass window or any
shiney/reflective surface during low light will strike the flash back
into the lens, again ruining the shot. Good rule of thumb, never shoot
at/through glass windows... for indoor shots draw the drapes, for
outdoor shots open the window or step outdoors.
