The wings can't have been very tasty.

Now if she'd tried these ones, she wouldn't have thrown them away

CHICKEN WINGS
(Australian Women's Weekly Chinese Cooking Class Cookbook)

1.5 kg (3lb) chicken wings
1/4 cup soy sauce
1 clove garlic
1 tsp grated green ginger
salt, pepper
1 tsp sugar
2 tbsp dry sherry
1 tbsp honey

Wash and dry wings, cut off wing tips and reserve for another dish or
stock.
In large bowl, combine marinade ingredients. Marinate chicken
overnight, stir occasionally.

To cook: Pour chicken wings and marinade into baking dish and bake in
a moderate oven for 45 minutes

Alternatively, remove from marinade and barbecue.
