Default Rachael Ray ... the energizer bunny

(I saw this on another newsgroup ... nancy)

http://tv.zap2it.com/tveditorial/tve...7C1%7C,00.html

Rachael Ray Enters Talk-Show Fray

In case more than 12 hours a week (counting reruns) on Food Network,
10 cookbooks and a soon-to-launch magazine aren't enough to feed your
Rachael Ray fix, the pixieish and increasingly ubiquitous TV chef is
making her way to broadcast television.

Ray, best known for her "30 Minute Meals" show on the Food Network,
has signed to host a daytime talk show set to launch in national
syndication in fall 2006. The for-now untitled show will be produced
by Oprah Winfrey's Harpo Productions, syndicator King World and Food
Network owner Scripps Networks.

"People know me for my love of food, but I have so much more I want to
share," Ray says. "Our show's going to be all about taking a bigger
bite out of life. I want people to see themselves in this show,
because life is full of messes and successes, and getting there is
half the fun." (And can't you just hear her punctuating little laugh
at the end of that statement?)

Other than its endorsement of chewing on larger chunks of life,
details of the show are scant for now. It will be shot in New York,
allowing Ray to continue appearing on the Food Network. And it comes
with a hearty endorsement from Oprah herself.

"From the moment I had Rachael on my show earlier this year, I knew
she had 'it,'" Winfrey says. "She has that connection with her
audience that most people only achieve one-on-one."

Ray's current workload includes "30 Minute Meals," "Inside Dish" and
"Tasty Travels" on Food Network; "$40 a Day" is still in regular
rotation on the cable channel as well. An 11th cookbook is due next
month, as is her magazine, Every Day with Rachael Ray.

LOL!...

I suspect that'll be the one that tips the undecided over the anti-RR
brink. I'd like to see her as a guest host w/ Regis when KR is on
vacation. That'd be a goof.

You know what they've said here... it used to be the Emeril Network,
but now it's the Rachael Network. Too bad Food TV doesn't have the
imagination to highlight more than one popular personality at a time.

I like Rachael Rae and my husband likes her too, but we like her for
different reasons. She may giggle a lot, but at least she's not
saying BAM all the time.

You two cracked me up ... I watch the beginning of the show because
Regis cracks me up. Kelly thinks she's the show. SHUT UP. She can't
tell a story to save her life, he's a pro at it, and she can't stop herself
from
interrupting him so we can all look at her her her!

Anyway, it just amused me that any of you even know the show, never
mind picturing Rachael in Kelly's place. Pure genius, slayed me, they're
almost peas in a pod.

My perverted mind then tries to imagine the two of them, Rachel and
Kelly, hosting together. I can just see the studio crew and audience
lying lifeless on the studio floor, blown outward like the fallen
trees around Mt St Helen's, as the cuteness factor reaches critical
mass and explodes in fireball of uncontrolled giggles. Oh, the
humanity...

If you think that, you know nothing of women in business. You have
incorrectly identified these two as excessively cute and therefore harmless.
My mind boggles trying to imagine the direction the warfare would take.

Oh, that was just one scenario. My other image is of the two staring
daggers out the corner of their eyes, grimacing cutely through the
guest line up, while delivering a constant barrage of 'gotchyas' and
'ftssssses'.

The gotchyas' would be entertaining as long as you were out of the line of

Rachel - the more she's on, the less I watch FTV. Ick. Way too perky
for me. Plus, I don't like the way she drops ending "gs" and the
slangy way in general that she talks. Get some class, girl! Or, go to
enunciation class.

No, she doesn't holler "BAM!" She just squawks and squawks and squawks

OMG, maybe she acts like the E.B. but that laugh puts her
in Woody Woodpecker's family. And the grin/grimace belongs
to the Cheshire cat. She creeps me out.

On $40 a day, doesn't she EVER get a bad meal? They're
all orgasmic, according to her. Eeeeuuuuwwwww.

You can get a DVD from pbs.org for $40, with 18 episodes from her
series; have you checked Ebay?

Isn't anyone else creeped out by her Chessy-cat grin? I can't watch,
but from what I hear, her cooking is tasty.

You can rent some of her old shows on Netflix.
I miss "Two Fat Ladies"... isn't it time for someone to bring them back

The only people who are creeped out aren't really "people" persons.

The only problem I have with Giada is that is seems her head is too
big. Or is it just the camera angle?

Oh, give me a break. You don't find that she's just too toothy? I'm
definitely a people-person, but I find that her grin just annoys me on
a personal level. I'm sure she's a lovely person, unlike some posters
here.

I can live with RR's grin. It's Giada's I can't stand (every tooth on

Even when just looking down into the dish she's preparing there is that
wide toothy grin. It is so wide, it appears forced and almost painful.
She's kinda creepy that way.

Giada certainly isn't like Nigella, who looks and sounds like she thinks of
food is a sensuous experience. The other day I flipped onto the Food
Network channel while Giada was one and my wife commented " Oh come on .
Don't try to tell me that woman actually eats food."

I'd grin like that too if I made the kind of money she does. And I could
learn to giggle like her as well. I'd do just about anything for money,
actually.

A man asked a woman if she would sleep with him for 1 million pounds.
She said yes. He then asked if she would sleep with him for £1. She
said.. 'what do you take me for?' He responded.. Madam.. we know what
you are.. we are just haggling the price!

I thought the same thing when I watched her show...if she eats the food
she cooks, she eats about a bite. A good deal of what she cooks looks
good - although I thought the baked spaghetti in a "pot pie" looked
kinda gross.

Maybe you are not referring to the left/over spaghetti cooked in a skillet,
sort of baked in the skillet. Maybe I didn't follow directions exactly, but
it turned out pretty yukky. It did taste gross.

I have a DIL who only weighs 102 pounds and drops even lower if she doesn't
work at it. Yet she can out eat my son and that's saying something. When we
go to an all you can eat buffet she is always the last person eating after
everyone else has finished. She is just one of those people who has a
metabolism like a hummingbird.

From an interview, she once said that she does eat all of the foods that
she makes on camera, but she eats very small portions, and she exercises.

Sorry, but I just can't imagine making the sorts of food that she does, make
such a fuss over it, and then have only a small portion. She must spend a
lot of time at the gym, and that's hard to do when you are working on a
television production. More power to her if she can truly enjoy the food and
not pack on the weight.

One of my first commitments when I took an early retirement was to whip
myself into shape. The YMCA opened up a new facility near me and I joined up
and started working out 5-6 times a week. Weight loss was slow until I
started swimming 1000m per day in addition to my daily workout.
