Jam Lady

Well, the UPS man brought me a package today. A little beat up, but
for UPS that's to be expected.

The inner box (surrounded by styrofoam peanuts) looked much better.
Inside, there were 12 jars in perfect condition.

"It tastes best, hands down, on hot, buttered toast made from my own
homemade white bread."
(a quote from the jar label, next to a picture of *our* Jam Lady!)

I wouldn't know about that. One jar is empty. No bread (homemade or
not) was in the house. No, I didn't eat it all (she said that she had
a taste) (her "taste" couldn't have been much more than a tablespoon).

Thanks, Barb, and thanks to Gedney and My Brands Inc. for making this
possible.

$4.83 each for 16.5 ounces delivered to my door is a great price for
extra great preserves. Shoot, I've paid more than that for cheep-o
store brands.

BOB
what to do with the next jar???

Oh, oh, oh!!! Which one of Barb's is it? I now order her Cherry Berry
by the dozen and really do hope there will be plenty again next season
so I can order at least three dozen more.

I'm forwarding your note to the CEO at Gedney and their Marketing VP --
they will be pleased to read it, I know. Thanks, Bob.

(Mix some with a little chocolate and dump it on some vanilla ice cream.
Make a smoothie. Lick the spoon and call it a day.

$4.83 each for 16.5 ounces? 16 oz was a pound the last time I
looked.... and no shipping charges? WOW!

Ta muchly, Nancy. I take it that the only ones of Barb's are the cherry
preserves and the peach raspberry. I can just make out her pic on the jar.
I'd know those <ahem> cheeks anywhere :-)

TammyM, wondering what the Gedney folks think of the explosion of orders for
Schaller's jammies?

12 jars Peach Raspberry $47.30
Shipping 9.38
Handling 1.25

Total $57.93
divided by 12 jars
Equals 4.8275 rounded
up to
$ 4.83 per jar

The 16.5 ounces is the 'Net Weight' of the contents. The jars make
the total weight more.

I'm happy with the price and I'm happy with the preserves (if I can
keep the spoon out of the jars unless there is something else to go
with the preserves).

Peach Raspberry. After this, I'm sure a case of the Cherry Berry will
be heading to Florida (soon!).

Thank you!
Think I can get a pickle hat with the next order?

Heh heh. Yeah, mix it with *something*! I licked the spoon too many
times. How many dessert spoonfuls are in one jar? Yep, that's about
how many times I licked the spoon!

Pach Raspberry Chipotle sauce for some smoked or BBQed meat this
weekend sounds like a plan. I have a version of raspberry chipotle
that can only be made better (IMO) with the peach raspberry...

It's www.gedneypickle.com, Toots. Lower left, there's a link to order
that will take you to mybrandsinc.com

http://gedneypickle.com/; then link to
http://www.mybrandsinc.com/ShopOnlin...=6&s=G&ss=GED; then
to the middle column near the bottom,
http://www.mybrandsinc.com/ShopOnlin...&ss=GED&p=3360
for the Cherry; and right below the Cherry is the Peach Raspberry.
http://www.mybrandsinc.com/ShopOnlin...&ss=GED&p=3353
for the Peach Raspberry. Harumpph! The Peach Raspberry doesn't show
the jar.

Thanks for your patronage. I can't get rich without your help.

The royalty won't buy a stick of gum, much less the Disney Cinderella
Palace or whatever in heck I've been "advised" about. I've just mailed
the Gedney folks asking for info about how many jars have been ordered
by my r.f.c. acquaintances. Must say I'm stunned by the interest --
even though they ARE wonderful products! And when I think about it, $5
or less for a jar (if you buy 12, I think) is a reasonable price for a
pint jar. I sell my homemades for nearly or twice that, in a smaller
jar, besides. :-/

Hey, thinking about the costs of ready made - I was at a US grocery
store over our Thanksgiving weekend. Mind you I'm used to canning my
own & Canadian prices. They wanted $5.99 for a 500 ml jar of dilly
beans! I could not believe it. I grow my own beans so a jar that size
likely costs be about 5 cents to can, maybe a little more but you know
what I mean.

I'm just assuming that the run on the stuff is because of my mention

I think I was saying, though, that I can't make and sell it as
inexpensively as they do. I don't have access to wholesale costs nor do
I make the quantities that would let me avail myself of pallets of jars,
etc. I'll offload the rest of what I have in a month at a fundraiser
for the local Seniors Center. They tell me that people come early to
scope out my stuff. Rob will be happy to have those freakin' jars out
of the house.

I want to place an order, but I can't make up my mind... why oh why
don't they do jams in mixed 6's? I'd take their choice, not a custom
