In what parallel universe? Even with everything else, cream cheese,
graham crackers, and eggs would easily put me over $5.

Well, you don't use a whole package of crackers and a whole package of eggs
and flours, etc.
You use only 1-2 cups of crackers and perhaps only 2 eggs; then a package of
cheese.
The cheesecake I made yesterday costed to me only about ?3, because I had
the crackers and the eggs of the cheese cake I made before.
2 eggs= 0,40 eurocents
2 cups of crackers=0,25 eurocents
250 gr cheese=1,50 euro
1/4 cup of butter= 0,20 euro cents
1/2 cup sugar=0,8-0,10 eurocents
Tot= 2,45 ?

yes, you must add work and oven.
BTW, remember that dealer must have his gain and generally this gain is more
than 50%

Pandora, sometimes the satisfaction comes from not making it and voila!
"Hey, this is good!"
Just "the hunt" and "the find" becomes another type of satisfaction.

Good question.

From measurements I did on one of my electric ovens, running
1.5 hours at 300 F (a reasonable time and temperature estimate
for a cheesecake, including preheating) used about 1.1
kilowatt hours.

In my area, a KWH costs as much as 18 cents depending on your
total monthly usage (cost per KWH gets more expensive the
more you use).

That makes the cost in this case 19.8 cents.
