If I still had my old Pecan tree - I sure would!! Unfortunately, I sold it
(okay, technically I sold property that had the tree on it...) a couple of
years back.

Alan S, email me at msuran at em eye em eff dot com. I cannot trade
hazelnuts, but I can send you a small amount, so that you can enjoy
their special taste. Just hurry up, before they stop being fresh. I
only received them yesterday.

Tammy, you are so wrong. I just know what it may mean to someone, to
taste something again that is normally not available.

A few years ago, my daughter, knowing that I had wanted to eat a few
fresh hazelnuts, planted a few trees. The first ones died, the ones
she planted to replace them, have produced nuts the past year and this
one. She sent me most of them and I offered them to Alan S, from whom
I did not hear.

If you want a few, get in touch with me via email. )

I stand by my assessment, Margaret, dear. Anyone who is willing to
share their bounty is beyond nice in my book.

Are the hazelnuts I can buy at the market in the Fall any different? They
are in the shell and seem to taste fresh. Among other things, I put them
in fruitcake.

There are no nuts of any kind sold in the markets in which I shop, so
I do not know. The ones Debbie sent me are still full of juices and
sweetness. I hope that you can find that kind in the market. Now is
the best time for hazelnuts.

Then I guess I'm lucky. The ones I bought last week have a very sweet and
nutty flavor. I've put them in sealed containers in the freezer until I
bake, which will be the weekend after Halloween. I bought hazelnuts,
native Arizona pecans, English walnuts, and California almonds, all for
baking.
