Default Feeling Icky :-(

Hey, thanks to everyone who gave me such great ideas to accompany
those stuffed peppers! Unfortunately, I was praying to the porcelain
god most of last night, so the boys are on their own for dinner. I
don't know why I'm sick, probably something Buddy brought home from
school. I'm going to crawl back into bed with some dry crackers...

Thanks again!

My late brother in law's ex wife used to be a health food nazi. When I
had something that caused everything I ate to be hurled right back up I
tired all sorts of remedies. I eventually tried her recommendation....
knock back about an ounce of apple cider vinegar. My stomach never did
react very well to vinegar, but I was so desperate that I tried it. I was
feeling better within an hour.

My DH has a little box of folksie remedy booklets (a set) that he brought
into our marriage like a dowry. In it are the cider vinegar remedies for
just about everything conceivable.
We have been taking Prilosec for a while and about two weeks ago, out comes
the little box. He's now doing the vinegar and water routine. It's been
helping, but I'm not that brave.
I don't doubt a bit that your remedy works.

Sorry to hear you're feeling under the weather :/
I'd avoid the crackers...they never did help me, and they're downright
painful on the way back up. Try putting some lemon peels on your nightstand
in a cup of hot water. Sip mint tea or room temp gingerale.

Feel better soon.

When Jr started nursery he caught everything going, I was ill for six months
with one bug or another. I only knew we'd changed viruses when the symptoms
altered slightly!
Hope your feeling better soon

Awful, ain't it? Been the same way for over 2 weeks now, but it has eased
off (from last Friday night until Monday afternoon I hadn't up-chucked
once), but then about 2 p.m. Monday I started again, then about every half
to 1 hour until around 6 p.m. The rest of last week was bloody awful,
shakes, sweats, dizziness, fatigue, and almost constant vomiting. I'd heave
dry then drink water, 1/2 hour later that'd come back too. Ate less than 1
meal's worth of food between last Monday and Saturday.

Whatever's making you sick, hope it passes quickly for you, and before it
burns your throat out!

Many years ago one of my daughters was voted most popular child at a local
Hospital emergency room. Obviously we were there several times. # 1 ( the
oldest) was an accident waiting to happen - we got to know the staff by name.
Needless to say we were mortified and embarrased. One morning while we were
sleeping she pulled out several kitchen drawers used them as a ladder, got up
onto the counter, climbed on the top of the Fridge, opened the cupboard, got out
the bottle of Flintstones vitamins, climbed down with said bottle, opened it up
and proceeded to eat almost the whole bottle. - Has to be a Sunday morning - "
Hello Doc, Oncall Pediatrician, What should we do?" Dr. Oncall said " well it
probably won't hurt her but take her to the emergency room and I'll call them
with instructions." So off we went. - after the ipecac and about 45 minutes
of waiting in one of the rooms - the nurse said, well there probably isn't
anything left to get rid of - tale her home as watch her for any other symptoms.
Back into the car and well you can guess the rest. Hence the warning label.

And I read that as "Feeling Licky"... guess you're not feeling well,
maybe later.

Default Hello! (Was Feeling Icky)

Hi all! I wanted to thank everyone for their replies to this post
(yeah, I'm a few weeks late). The funny ones gave me a good chuckle,
and I appreciated the well wishes and food ideas. Luckily, the
nausea didn't last long, just been achy and tired. But I'm finally
getting around to Usenet again, and there were a few comments in
this thread that I had to reply to:

Michael - Yes, Buddy is the nickname of my 8-year-old son. And
no, Alan, he won't be getting any new siblings any time soon;
destiny (in the form of a hysterectomy 4 years ago) has made
him an only child. Oddly enough, his two closest friends are
also without bros. or sisters, so I don't think he finds it to
be terribly unusual.

Anyway, thanks again for the kind wishes, everyone... :-)
