Anyone have a recipe for red beans and rice that tastes like the
Zatarain product? For my budget, the ~$2 price is pretty steep for what you get. If not, I'll try stretching it with added rice after it's prepared. Ken -- Untie the two knots to email me |

It's just as easy to make your own, and to taylor it to your own taste. As a basic starter thy this. Red Beans & Rice 1 lb red beans 2 smoked ham hocks 1 pound sausage ( cajun or italian) sliced 1/4 " thick 1/2 cup diced onions 1/4 cup diced green pepper 1/4 cup dice celery salt and pepper to taste Add any spices mixture you like, try a cajun one. ( Zatrain's, Tony Chachere's , Emeril's or find one on the net) Every thing in a pot, cover with water. Cook until the beans are tender. Add equal part of cooked rice just before serving. Pan Ohco |
