Thanks to all who replied to my recent request for a favorite bean
recipe. I ultimately decided on the Durgin Park recipe, mostly because that's the one that kept cropping up the most whenever I asked folks about beans. Anyway, I made them for a potluck party I attended today. They were *wonderful*. Several posters mentioned that they were a bit sweet, so I cut back the sugar in the recipe by half - and they came out perfect! I also made a black bean salad with corn, tomatoes and roasted poblanos, with a chili-lime-cumin dressing. Really excellent! If anyone's interested I'll be happy to post the recipe. -- Donna A pessimist believes all women are bad. An optimist hopes they are. |

That's SO's standard baked bean recipe. We have the ingredients for it in the house, but we need a potluck occasion to make it. Forever is two people and the full Durgin Park bean recipe--and the lower gastrointestinal consequences ;-). Cindy -- C.J. Fuller Delete the obvious to email me |

Seems to work well. There is no way to make less than a pound's worth of beans (not worth the effort), but it does freeze well. Instead of defrosting it, I pop it right into a pot of boiling water. -- Alan "If you reject the food, ignore the customs, fear the religion, and avoid the people, you might better stay home." --James Michener |
