Although my situation (diabetes) is not nearly as extreme as yours, I
can't have alcohol anymore either. I haven't been much of a drinker
for the past few years anyway, but I really miss Mike's Hard Cranberry
Lemonade:

www.mikeshardlemonade.com

That stuff is yummy! But one bottle leaves me trembling and weak, as
it really messes up my blood sugar. Oh well.

Anyway, really glad you're back and getting better, Michael... :-)

TinyTownGoddess simply means that I am a Goddess stuck in a Tiny Town. I'm
really too much for this burg, I truly am. But duty called, and I answered.
LOML and I moved back here to my hometown last year to care for my aging and
ill parents, and I miss a REAL town with REAL grocery stores and farmers'
markets. *sigh* Did you know you can't buy fish in this town that is not
frozen. It's frozen catfish or canned tuna or salmon. The shrimp is all
frozen.

I miss fish and shellfish the most.

More than you wanted to know, I'm sure.

Welcome home, and glad to hear it went well! Just take it easy and don't
overdo it at first. You don't want to push too fast! :-)

I'm interested in the use of LOML. Does it stand for Love of My Life?
Did you come up wtih that on your own, or pick it up somewhere?
Because folks on RFC kind of gave me that acronym in 1998 when they
were quizzing me about my then future hubbie, and I said he was the
Love of My Life. So they said I could call him LOML. Is this a
standard usenet acronym and I thought it was unique, or did we coin it
for my hubbie and now it's an RFC in crowd term? Or what?

But it is perfect, when you know how to pronounce it: He is your LOML,
LOM-el. It has a regal note to it, befitting a Prince Consort. And if
you were my daughter and I were posting to alt.wedding about you as I
did my 'other' daughter, YOU would be referred to TLOTH, pronounced
TEE-loth -- The Lady Of The Hour. Stick with me kid, I have way too

<<<SNIP>>>

Leila,

I didn't figure it was original with me, even though I'd never seen in
anywhere else before. I'm just a lover of acronyms for the 'net, and Love Of
My Life is how I refer to him all the time, so it was a natural derivation
for me.

I've actually never seen LOML anywhere else before. But it's nice to know
you feel that way about your DH (the more common usage I've seen) too.

I wouldn't trade my SU (spousal unit) for all the tea in china.

From the marketing report "Tea In China" by Gobi International:

"India is the largest producer of tea, with production at 800 thousand
tonnes a year (US$ 2 billion). Asia is the largest consuming region of tea,
accounting for 65% of world consumption. India and China jointly account for
35%. Demand is growing fastest in Africa, which is experiencing, on average,
a 5% growth per year. India, China, and Kenya are the major exporters of
tea."

So we are both right.

Har har to you and to Barb too.

Firstly, I must most abjectly apologize to Her Jamness, Barb the Queen
of Fruit Preserves, because I did NOT remember that She bestowed LOML
upon my dearest husband. "Folks" was my vague wave of the hand towards
whomever. Barb was right to take offense, for this grave error of mine
I am deeply sorry.

(Was that enough groveling, Barb?)

Secondly, no, I never make tabbouli since my dad moved to my county.
He makes it so often that my 4 year old thinks that's what you eat at
Jiddi's house (Jiddi = my grandpa in Arabic). He makes it for all my
parties, too, so I have gotten out of the habit completely.

Thirdly, Jill McQ complained so often about the tabbouli title and
attendant threads that I thought I'd give her a break for a decade or
two. OK, she's not the only one who sneered at the title. I'm not
naming the others.

I'm picking on Jill because she shares my birthday (I share hers?) and
therefore she is entitled to comment on my nickname. Also it's an RFC
tradition to be mean to each other and I had to get in a dig. Better
poke at Jill than at some of the real trolls who lurk beneath the RFC
rocks. She's got a sense of humor, at least. I can't wait to see what
she'll say when Tabbouli pops up in a subject header. Hi Jill!

Yeah, that was pretty good. You missed my birthday, though. Heathen.

Heh. You, I know. I don't know your dad. I'm with Cindy on your
ascension to the queen's throne. If you had a nickel for every time I
quote you about tabbouli being a GREEN salad, you'd have money for a
stick of gum. "-)

So, if I should ever show up in your neck of the woods, I can visit
Jiddi and we can talk? The Lebanese folks (*^;^*) who staff the
Lebanese food booth at the Festival of Nations do a fine job with
theirs, too. I had my first taste of kibbee there this year. I'm
hooked.

Oh Don't!! I miss seeing your friendly Tabbouli reference! I miss your
stories of life in Berkeley (right??) and trips to the mother country. I
miss hearing about the Spoonbread Queen and your Tabbouli princes. If one
can constantly toss out "my father the colonel" you can use your Tabblouli
Princess title with pride You earned it.

Sounds as if Jiddi has the realm of tabbouli all to himself these days.
Is your mother still the spoonbread queen?

OB food (as opposed to royal titles): Tonight I made a Vietnamese
noodle bowl with shrimp and lemongrass. Nothing unusual, except that
the cilantro, mint and basil all came from my humble little front yard
garden. The mint is going berserk, the cilantro is commencing to bolt
in the Seattle heat (but I'll plant more after the 4th), and the Italian
basil has an edge over the Thai basil at this point.

Sorry, if you're talking about me, I'm not teenie (just under 6' tall)
and my mom is the Spoonbread Queen. 'Cause she's from Virginia, and
she didn't give up her Spoonbread title just because she married the
Tabbouli King of North Carolina.

Barb and company seems determined to give me the Tabbouli Queen title
as an upgrade, I guess for longevity. Thanks.

Happy Birthday, Barb! Many, many happy returns. Yes, I am a heathen,
and have to be reminded for just about everybody's birthday.

Virtual chocolate buttermilk cake with cream cheese icing sent your

I'm maybe having second thoughts. The Princess doesn't ascend the
throne until the reigning monarch is, um, kaput. Long live the King!
Kings and Princesses live in harmony in many lands. I kinda like
Tabbouli Princess - it's how I know you. There's time enough to be
Tabbouli Queen, Dear.
