The last batch of goblins needed to shave. This time of night I start
thinking I should stop handing out candy and start handing out beer.

Reminds me of the Cone-Heads on Saturday Night Live (back in the 70s
when the show was actually funny)--the Cone Heads were giving the kids
fried eggs and 6 packs of beer.--r3

We had to turn off the light at 8PM. It's a school night, so we
didn't feel bad about it. Ran out of candy... bought a bag with 150
pieces, gave them out 1:1 to the cherubs. No shavers in the bunch
unless they were accompanied by little ones, thank gawd.

We got two... I have lots of candy left over. (Un)fortunately, I buy
stuff I like (Mounds, Almond Joy, Milky Way, Kit Kat) plus the
non-chocolate for those who can't/won't eat chocolate.

I also made my traditional (jell-o) brain and brought that in to work.
There's always someone new who hasn't seen it before And, it's
pretty tasty!

That is soooo delightfully disgusting. ;-)

I might have to try that at work.
I presume that is a commercially available mold.......

To make it look even more real, I'd take some more liquidy blood-red
jello and run it over the top so the "blood" would settle in the
crevices. <eg>

The recipe calls for 3@6 oz packages of watermelon or peach Jell-O,
plus a 12 oz can of skimmed evaporated milk, with a big warning that
"no other milk will do" Since it takes so much Jell-O, I haven't had
the inclination to challenge that command!

Yes, I've had this one for quite a few years but have run across it in
mail order catalogs. There's also a heart mold.

The time I made this at my parents' (for Christmas, no less), my
mother looked at it on the platter and said "It needs a garnish."

So we do use thawed frozen strawberries which gives it a bloody-clotty
look. I took that photo before I left for work, so I didn't "dress it
up."

It was a mail order catalog but I can't remember, it's been so long.
But if you Google brain and mold there are several sources. Here's
one that looks like mine:

http://egeneralmedical.com/braingelmol.html

While looking I also found a site that sells dismembered hand, heart,
and eyeball (out of stock!) molds.

We had a few ADULTS ToTing. It was a huge problem when we lived in San
Jose, CA, not so much a problem here in Portland, OR.

Your mom sounds like she has the same sense of humor my mom had! ;-D
I miss her but have a lot of good memories...

Well done!
Thanks for sharing that......
I'll have to look for that mold.
It'd be SO perfect for parties at work!

It was a tough Halloween in St. Louis, there was cold rain all day and
well into the evening. I two largish groups and few outliers. That
means I have about a bag each of little Milky Way and 100 Grand bars
left (oh darn).

In the interest of science, I did some experiments with the latter in
the microwave. Ten seconds was too long, hot molten caramel inside firm
chocolate -- OW! Seven seconds was about right, extra warm and gooey.

We actually had a group of college kids show up at ten minutes before
midnight. Their excuse? "Well your porch light was still on!"
I gave them what I had left in the bowl.
