How in the world can I be happy when you are still strutting around
either completely naked or clad only in those currently most kinky of
drawers and an occasional butternut or two?!

When you live north of the Arctic circle, clothes are a good thing. I
like to wear clothes myself this time of year.

Oh, okay, just for you. In all modesty, I have to warn you, though,
that many a trollop has told me how handsome, attractive and utterly
irresistible I am. One look at me and your life will never be the same.
You've been warned!

Ah, but the surroundings I had in mind referred more to the rfc than to
Texas, though Dallas and its suburbs, at least, are truly a soulless
urban jungle. Some good eats, though.

ObDrink: Urban Jungle recipe, from
<http://www.drinksmixer.com/drink7147.html>.

Victor

3/4 oz blackberry brandy
3/4 oz dry sherry
1/2 oz triple sec
1 tbsp vanilla ice cream

Blend briefly with a tablespoon of crushed ice in a champagne saucer,
and serve.

Have you ever tried drinking this? Is there a Gestalt to it? The
ingredients (as a package) sound perfectly awful!

I'm guessing this is an acquired taste? Blackberry brandy and sherry?
Then add triple sec? I don't have the imagination (or constitution)
necessary to see the draw.

There's nothing like a nice glass of creamed sherry on a cold winter's
night I use dry sherry for cooking not drinking. The recipe above
does not sound appealing to me but perhaps it is an acquired taste.

I'll differ in my opinion on what is best for the oncoming cold winter
nights. A mildly aromatic B&B, or better still, a dram of Cardhu,
provide an splendid cap to any day.

The blackberry brandy alone is an acquired taste. Masking it with the
other two won't improve it any.

Doesn't everyone differ in opinion? DH likes rye (whiskey) & coke and
we are both partial to Baily's Irish Cream in coffee on a cold night.
He hates even the smell of sherry yet likes the flavour of the dry
sherry when its cooked. What is B&B?

I've used cherry brandy on ice cream and in other deserts. We can get
cherry whiskey here too. I've never had blackberry brandy so can't
really comment.

One of us gals favourite teenage drinks was called a Cherry Hooker. You
pour a healthy shot of cherry whisky into a glass then holding the glass
on an angle, slowly pour in orange juice. The result was a very deep
ruby graduating up to a pale orange. Something jogged my memory about
this drink a couple of years back so I ordered one when we were out.
The bartender actually made it correctly. However, with my more mature
tastes it was the most aweful thing I've tasted in ages! I can't even
begin to imagine how we drank them back then. It must have been a
teenage thing.

Good stuff.

Have you ever had a Drambui? One of my favorite drinks is made with
it.

Rusty Nail recipe

1 1/2 oz Scotch whisky
1/2 oz Drambuie® Scotch whisky
1 twist lemon peel

Pour the scotch and drambuie into an old-fashioned glass almost filled
with ice cubes. Stir well. Garnish with the lemon twist.

I certainly wouldn't want to acquire any such taste. Not even if I were
an urban jungle dweller. I'm perfectly happy with the taste I have long
ago acquired for Bloody Mary, a perfect cocktail. I wouldn't refuse a
good Margarita or a Mojito, either.

Wouldn't dream of trying it. It's the stuff of nightmares. Come to
think of it, Dave Barry would probably add that "The Stuff of
Nightmares" is a good name for a rock band.

If you're willing to do a Mojito (basically a mint julip, with rum
instead of whiskey)... then a Rusty Nail is for you!

I think it sounds positively delightful! Had there been a shot of tequila
or peach schnappes... that would have caused a few problems of one sort or
another... but as is sounds great to me.
