That was my uncle's creed... He hit 98 last summer. He ate like many an
eighteen-yo kid, drank moderately, hadn't smoked since 1973, and had a
dance-card full of ladies.

His VA doc demanded he cut back on his meals and completely cut out his
daily 12oz. Tennessee Ale because some negative reactions would occur if
he didn't.

It did.

He didn't see 99.

a ride!'"

What kind of idiot tells someone that old to change their
lifestyle, who knows what impact it could have. Stupid.

Yes it is stupid. It's usually someone so convinced they know best that
they use their convictions like a bludgeon. The VA just seems to attract
more than its share.

IMHO if you make it to 98, you are doing better than the majority so you
must be doing something right. ;-) When I hit 80, I'm wearing purple and
doing whatever the hell I please!

<grins> I'm 43 and eating healthy and exercizing, but only because I
happen to enjoy weightlifting. Feeling the muscles in my arm, shoulders
and legs hard as a rock, and watching the developing vasularity in my
forearms also feels good. Now if I can just finish peeling the fat off
so the muscles show... <G>

I'm hoping that if I lay the groundwork now, I'll be _healthy_ when I'm
80 and able to stay active. I don't want to be using a walker or need
help... Independence is VERY important to me!
